Rise of the Guardians

Cast: Chris Pine(Jack Frost), Alec Baldwin(North), Jude Law(Pitch), Isla Fisher(Tooth), Hugh Jackman(Bunny),Dakota Goyo(Jamie)
Director: Peter Ramsey
Genre: Animation, Fantasy

A very cute movie and apt for the christmas season :) Mostly meant for the children or real animated movie lovers

Pluses:
  • Built keeping Christmas event in mind. It canot go wrong :) Children will enjoy in all respects, less dialogues and more fun
  • The number of main characters are quite a bit, and everyone having an exclusive factor of their own, so its always a play time till the movie lasts
  • Some big names there giving the voices, absolute justice
  • 3D is fair enough in bits and parts, watchable
  • Simple story, alluring second half. Post interval section of the movie is completely adorable when the story starts picking up
  • The boogeyman personally was my favorite :) His end is also very well written. Everything feels so goody goddy until 'Pitch' arrives and  you realize when things go good to bad, is only when comprehension strikes
  • One positive aspect being there was not too much of time wasted anywhere in introducing the characters

Minuses:
  • Not exactly made for all audiences, as i mentioned before, adults who like animation, will love it
  • Animation is just about fine, they could have done much better with it
  • First half of the movie feels too childish and boring

Dabangg 2

Cast: Salman Khan,Sonakshi Sinha, Vinod Khanna, Arbaaz Khan, Prakash Raj
Director: Arbaaz Khan
Genre: Action, Comedy, Drama

Dabangg relived :) A complete entertainer

Pluses:
  • Undoubtedly Salman Khan. The leading Khan of today. Perfect enterainer and what more in the cleanest way. A family man in all respect but yet a macho outlook. Funny, notorious, romantic and a superhero
  • The plots of Dabangg series are always clean, no dirty jokes anywhere. A complete family watch. Dabangg 2 has many excerpts from the prequel. They havent missed even a single character of the prequel except for the ones who died :P , and amazing to see that everyone agreed to be a part of the sequel. And that doesnt mean there is nothing new to watch out for. It has many more memorable dialogues added in the sequel to continue going forward in a sure shot Dabangg 3 :)
  • A round of applause to Arbaaz Khan for his direction. Because the movie is nothing but all about presentation, otherwise its just another mindless action flick
  • A rapturous acclaim to the dancing ladies, viz, Malaika Arora and Kareena Kapoor. Enjoyable item numbers
  • Vinod Khanna was a delight to watch. You usually see him as a strong man, here is a complete demure person and mild family man
  • I have always admired the character of Prakash Raj, i liked his accent in kanpuri style
  • This movie doesnt disappoint anywhere, not much of overdoing to make the sequel a desperate success. What you love about the movie is the way it has smoothly made a transition from the old set up to the new one and the rest of the flavor remains same
Minuses:
  • Sonakshi Sinha had absolutely nothing new to perform. And there were two things most irritating about her. The same old expressions and horrible costumes. I wonder who designed her clothes. And for no reason, she carries a grumpy look for most of the time. The only chemistry between the two that showed up was Pandey Ji pacifying wife, all round the movie
  • Prakash Raj wasted. The prequel had strong villain, Sonu Sood was remembered for. Prakash Raj being such a brilliant actor, was just adapted for accent. He had nothing to do in the entire movie. Disappointing Disappointing!
  • And the same was for Arbaaz Khan's role as an actor. He is way too subdued and portrayed unacceptably idiotic representation of himself. No content. We loved 'Makkhichand' and we wanted to see more of him
  • Songs, OMG! Too many of them, one in every 20 mins. Looked very much forced and mere an attempt to recreate the same scenarios for the songs as in the prequel. Quite irritating
  • Action scenes were clearly overdone. A little less wont really harm. :) Salman was known by the title of the movie and not as a one man army. A subtle difference of a sueprhero to a human could have been appreciated more
  • There were many small roles from Dabangg whom we loved to watch. All of them had cameos in this one. But alas! There were not many new ones added in this one whom you would love to watch in the next sequel

The Collection

Cast: Josh Stewart(Arkin), Emma Fitzpatrick(Elena). Randall Archer( The Collector), Christopher McDonald(Mr. Peters)
Director: Marcs Dunstan
Genre: Gore, Thriller, Action

A good watch for those who love this particular Genre

Pluses:
  • Good to see such movies getting released in Indian theaters. This was my first gore movie on a big screen. I enjoyed it completely :)
  • Quite a bit of gory stuffs and action to keep you entertained ;)
  • Irrespective of orientation, everyone will love Emma Fitzpatrick :) She is hot, she is bold and she has intelligent presence of mind. You wont see a mere victim in her but a woman with survival insticts. That makes her a hero equivalent for the flick
  • Josh Stewart, one character from the prequel of this movie, played a good role. Not trying to be unnecessarily heroic but with the turn of events turning him into a person who can ruthlessly break his own arm and turn into an avenger by the end of it
  • The suggestive end of the movie is nice, unlike the regular open ends. Josh Stewart is surely going to sustain for the next sequel. What we are yet to see is, he turns out to be a bad man or a continues as a good man
  • Randall Archer is a difficult role to comment on, since such kinda roles doesnt require much of your expressiveness to be shown. Its more of a body language physically and this genre doesnt have much scope to express that either nor is he a mindfucking tormentor unlike the bad guy in SAW series. However, as suitable to the role, he does his job worth a mention
  • Christopher McDonald didnt have much to do, but yet had a strong presence in the movie
Minuses:
  • This certainly isnt as gory as SAW series were. Coming from the makers of SAW, i was surely expecting more.Am also kinda speculating a lot of editing done before its release in India
  • The plot seemed a tad too unruly and unfair for the character of 'The Collector'. He was the only one battling against many. That makes things a bit too chaotic for cold blooded movies like this
  • What made SAW series a great success was not just the gory content but also the mental agony that the bad guy 'Jigsaw' posed on human. This movie clearly lacks it. Nevertheless, the lack of this particular factor justifies the mechanical ONLY role of a Collector :P

The Hobbit: An unxpected Journey

Cast: Martin Freeman(Bilbo Baggins), Ian Mckallen(Gandalf), Richard Armitage(Thorin), Andy Serkis(Ghollum)
Director: Peter Jackson
Genre: Fantasy, Adventure

Clearly overhyped. Scored below expectations. Low hopes may thrive you through the movie and out with a smiling face, otherwise a let down

Pluses:
  • No denial to the fact, it was a pleasure watching the hills and the moutains, and your favorite characters once again on the big screens. Be it The Shire, or the Orcs, Dwarves, Hobbits, Elves, The Wizzards, everything
  • One of the notewrothy action sequence where the giant mountains come to life, is one of the most cherishable scenes from the movie
  • This is a must watch in 3D. Its after a long time that i recommend a movie in 3D. Its totally worth it. Every piece magnificently shot, every character feels like real and playing right in front of you. Be it the rains or the grass, you feel them all. Every scene is a 3D shot, you will enjoy it for sure
  • Ian Mckallen playing the character of 'Gandalf' is the only character worth appreciating. He was the hero of the flick

Minuses:
  • So apparently, a 300 page novel is attempted to be stretched beyond 7-8 hours totalling into 3 movies, and what do you get back in return, is a 2.5 hours long first of its series. Expect it to be very very slow
  • There was nothing significant for the Hobbit to play, it was more about the drwarves rather, i feel the movie should be renamed aptly :P
  • Action scenes were tad cliche, nothing new except for one or two scenes. All the action sequences came after a long haul and striked with undramatic length, never ending and monotonous
  • You dont feel any attachement with any character at all in this movie to my surprise. They fail to make an impession mostly due to the lack of clear role and unclean character sketches. You dont practically care whether any of the lead characters surive the battles or they dont
  • Few events were not very well depicted, like what sudden development prompts 'Bilbo' to change his mind for an uneventful person to take up an adventure journey which could cost him his life
  • Few characters were forced and pushed just to get you a feel of your favorite characters from the LOTR series that you loved, such as Ghollum, unnecessarily stretched too long a tryst between Bilbo and Ghollum, and honestly an irritating episode there
  • The entire movie sustains only due to Gandalf, others were mere puny. A big let down here itself. Thankfully, we didnt have to loose Gandalf and wait for his re-birth in here :P
  • Literally missed the characters of Frodo and Sam, Frodo had a very small cameo, but yet a pleasant one :)

Khiladi 786

Cast: Akshay Kumar, Asin, Himesh Reshammiya, Raj Babbar, Mithun Chakraborty
Director: Ashish R Mohan
Genre: Comedy,Drama

Entertaining. If you go with the idea of simply enjoying, you wont be disappointed.
I am not digging into any minuses, since this movie was not build for quality but for entertainment, and it doesnt fail in the purpose :)

Pluses:
  • On this particular flick i am dead against of the hypocritic lots who gives it a thumb down saying its a mindless comedy and action yielding zero eggs. Just a reminder, this particular genre was introduced to Bollywood inspired from the same mindless comedy and actions from South Indian movies which went onto become huge hits. Then why now turn it down. This one fairs on those grounds
  • Akshay Kumar, being labelled for movies falling under this genre to the current date, did his best job. He is charming, alluring, manly, yet sobre and lovable. He doesnt need super funny dialogues to induce humor, his regular dialogues have a sense of humor
  • Asin for a change was acceptable, though there was nothing new that she was doing for this flick. However, due to no competition with any other female leads, she could easily win all the limelight to herself :)
  • Himesh Reshammiya, needs a round of applause. some guts to survive even after the many critics against him. He knows very well how to make use of the critics to his favor, and keep working hard time and again until he fulfills his dream to be accepted by the audience as an actor :D Yes people, he never promoted for the movie, but from the beginning till the end Himesh is omnipresent, physically or audibly :P He has proven his might, in successfully making a mainstream cinema with his maximum contribution, as a Producer, Scriptwriter, Music Director, Singer and last but not the least as an actor. The postitive is being, he aint irritating as an actor in this one :D He realises his place finally :P
  • Raj Babbar and Mithun Chakraborty requires homage for continuing to entertain us
  • Script was digestible even after being mindless. Dialogues were good, justifies all the action scene with aplomb. Humor at its place, not overly hilarious but yet attains its goal. All the roles equally divided and all the major actors shares equal screen space
  • Music by Himesh Reshammiya could be a topic of debate. His music is never odd to ears. Given the music directors of today, he can easily score. However, he should refrain from singing. His voice is indeed irrtating to the ears, albeit if the songs were given to singers appropiate, would have been a sure hit
  • The box office revenue quite proves its success all the critics apart :) Cheers to the team for being bold :D

Minuses:

Himesh, please stop singing!!

Playing for keeps

Cast: Gerard Butler, Jessica Biel, Noah Lomax, Deeni Quaid, Uma Thurman, Catherine Zeta Jones
Director: Gabriele Muccino
Genre: Comedy, Family Drama

Very very watchable flick, not to go by the reviews on web which is pretty lukewarm

Pluses:
  • Gerard Butler definitely has some magnet attracting women. And this is what his character is all about. You may hate him, you may get disappointed but you cant ignore this man. Tied in a circumstance without a job and estranged family woes, a yesteryear soccer champion is in an unstable situation where he is caught with things that he never saw himself being a part of. A single father trying to get his wife back and dealing with numerous women fans, he plays a man with perplexed state of mind on why are things happening if at all happening :) Any man would want a life like that and enjoy watching him :P
  • Chemistry between father and son, was shown beautifully. Noah Lomax did a good job and is pretty expressive
  • Jessica Biel, Uma Thurman, Catherine Zeta Jones, the hot female league were all supporters, divided roles to play, however good to watch
  • Deeni Quaid, was the bad man apaprently.Didnt have much to do again, however did blend in with movie
  • The movie lacks focus but it does not loose on entertainment :)

Minuses:
  • The script was written with average mind, a lot could be added to make it a spicy, raunchy movie with a lot of manhood associated with a soccer player. could not really be dressed up all that properly
  • I didnt personally like the ending of it where 'George' comrpomises so much for his family, and the family doesnt give back what it should support for
  • All the actors did their limited part to make the movie watchable but none were utilized to their full potential which makes it an overall average movie to watch

Hotel Transylvania

Cast: Adam Sandler(Count Dracula), Andy Samberg(Jonathan), Selena Gomez(Mavis)
Director: Genndy Tartakovsky
Genre: Animation, Comedy, Family Drama

Its cute and a pretty well made movie. A good recommendation for a weekend watch.

Pluses:
  • The composition was really alluring, taking you to an imaginary and fantasy world of monsters who seem scary and funny at the same time. You are bound to fall in love with the monsters :)
  • Adam Sandler,Andy Samberg and Selena Gomez must have had a lot of fun doing the voice for the main characters
  • The background scores and animated direction are commendable. It doesnt boast of brilliant graphics as that of life like figures and the likes, but instead a simple subtle representation
  • The script is written in the manner so as to attract people of all age group and equally enjoyable. It never looses on its pace. Kids may get scared at times with the Dracula effect, however it will surely lessen down the odd monster tale fears from them :)

Minuses:
  • They could have added some fascinating things around the world of the monsters, more of an adventure journey for the human in the secluded Hotel Transylvania
  • 3D is just about fine

Talaash

Cast: Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Rani Mukherjee, Nawazuddin Siddiqui
Director: Reema Kagti
Genre: Thriller

You wont mind watching it for sure. But its highly recommended to go with expectations low.

Pluses:
  • Kareena Kapoor, for a change is very much appreciable...and tell you what a change :P In the presence of Aamir Khan, if someone bags the most appreciable role in the same film, is noteworthy :) And why not, after all she has always been a performer when put into the shoes of a whore :) She cant act otherwise, may be some past life connection you see :P
  • Rani Mukherjee and her role is debatable, though she wasnt really required for the movie. However, to sum up the entire story to the end, she was required as a filler. Weightage of her role apart, she did a brilliant job in acting as a wife. She could have been easily faded without much to her role to perform, but she made her presence felt with some really hard hitting dialogues
  • Nawazuddin Siddiqui, is an actor born only to perform. He doesnt need glamor or promotion. He makes himself felt
  • Aamir Khan has always been an intense actor. Doesnt fail here either. But thats about it.

Minuses:
  • And this is indeed not a Aamir Khan special flick. He is known for a rather strong character. In here he is shown to be a man who doesnt know how to deal with the demise of his son. To some extent which is acceptable, but the character here is devastated. The movie lacks focus due to his role majorly. He is unsure if he is putting in his efforts into the case or he is trying to fight with himself. He sends his wife to psychiatrist when he is the one in need of it. He stops sharing any love with his wife. All these characteristics of a very weak man, doesnt suit Aamir. Not his best performance
  • The script was just about fine. Its dull at many places. You may spend half the movie wondering what is happening, while post interval you will start getting bored due to its slow pace. The end is startling, more or so because no one would expect a mythical belief towards a thriller ending
  • Music was passe, easily forgettable
  • Movie never felt well connected, thriller movies are watched with an Eagles's eyes. So many tits and bits running here and there without a well explained connectivity in the end. Why does Aamir never interrogate Kareena properly is never undestood even when there were clear clues on her. This and many more. A thriller movie not well concealed and without a practical end, is not exactly so thrilling after all

Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part II

Cast: Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner
Director: Bill condon
Genre: Drama, Romance, Fantasy

Actually not a bad watch. A great end to a romantic saga.

Pluses:
  • Kristen Stewart never looked as beautiful as in the Breaking Dawn-Part II. Vampires have more glow than a human ;) She was the central character after all, and she has got some action people this time, she is tough, she can hunt and doesnt need to mount over the back of 'Edward' to wander around the jungle anymore :D And some specific special powers bestowed to her. A mother, a wife and a Girl friend to 'Jacob' :) What more can you ask from a female centric character to have :)
  • Robert Pattinson was lovely, somehow this guy gets the expressions so right. When he is a lover, he is passionate; when a father, he is soft, kind and as much caressing. You can see the light in his smiles as he treats the new additions in his family as his own extended family and takes their responsibility. You can even see 'Edward' grown up as a man, accepting 'Jacob' being a part of them, comfortably hiding his devilish and scornful thoughts against him and even expressing from time to time :)
  • Taylor Lautner, need not say much, he has his own fans following world over. His presence is what did matter, hence the addition to the 'Pluses' :)
  • I have always personally loved the character of 'Alice' played by Ashley Greene and 'Carlisle' played by Peter Facinelli. They always have been a very stong and important support to the leading characters and quite a backbone to the center of the plot
  • The story wasnt boring or lagging anywhere. They had many aspects to cover for this extended saga, 'Bella' getting accustomed to her new Avatar, her daughter- her special powers, her character;  the plot against 'Volturi', the epic fight and finally the climax. I would rather say there were too many things that a Twilight series ever covered in a single flick
  • I dont consider movie being a bit slow to be a any minus on it, Twilight series have never been fast. Then why complain!!

Minuses:
  • Taylor Lautner ruthlessly wasted :( To my dismal, his entire character has been reduced down to a baby sitter. And by default, for granted support for 'Bella'. You anyway see so less of him as for the most of the character he is impersonating a wolf :P And this time, his role was completely subdued, and i so hated this factor
  • I wouldnt really mind if they would have extended the size of the movie to cover a little more of character sketches of all, since this was all together a complete new definition of all the roles
  • The end in fact was not so well defined, on how 'Alice' visualizes the future to be, is unclear. Those who read the book can only decipher. Others will be lurking in loom or even perhaps choose to ignore to what happens in the end :P

Life of Pi

Cast: Suraj Sharma, Irfan khan
Director: Ang Lee
Genre: Adventure,Fantasy,Drama

Clearly overhyped. Liking the movie is subjective to whether the audience wants to go by the hysteria created around it or goes to watch with an independent view.

Pluses:
  • Suraj Sharma, undoubtedly a brilliant performance. He was very expressive, be it pleasure or despair, he doesnt overdo any. Was a pleasure watching him
  • Brilliant cinematography and graphics. The tiger felt no less than a real animal. You cant even a speculate a single flaw in it. Its a fantasy delight to the eyes. But no where even close to Avatar or Titanic, the comparison to these legendary movies hurts me
  • Irfan Khan, is a serious actor and a fab one. Less opportunity to perform in this flick, but his appearance was a treat to eyes specially for an Indian on an international platform :)
  • The bonding between 'Pi' and the tiger 'Richard Parker' was beautifully shown, however it remained only one sided always.Alas!
  • Adil Hussain and Tabu had merely any role to perform, but a mention to them is worth
  • Script was written with quite a few detailing in mind which makes it a beautiful journey to watch, but it doesnt come totally clean without any flaw
  • I am afraid, there is absolutely no more postivies to add in this section for the so called epic movie

Minuses:
  • The director seemed somewhere indecisive whether to present it as a fantasy or a real adventure. If they meant to make it look like a fantasy, then why did the tiger not share an emotional bond with the boy. Why didnt Richard Parker turn back.So much for the togetherness. You win the hearts of the audience when you complete a fantasy movie with a happy ending. This one disappointed
  • The conclusion of the flick is to narrate a story which will in turn establish faith in god. I didnt find even that being established in any sense. A very clear depiction of 'Pi's childhood shows that there has always been a debate between the parents on being rational and on being a blind folded believer in god and mythologies. And the adventure of 'Pi' led him to decipher the truth finally. On one side he says, the story makes you believe in god and on the other hand he says, his father was always right, without whom he could have never learnt so many truths of life. Not very clear if that was a selective belief or a wholesome thing
  • Very slow depiction. Movie belonging to such plots can be expected to be slow, provided the audience can connect to the character. Feels his emotions, his pain. Alas! even after trying hard, couldnt connect to the boy
  • Quite a lot of flaws here and there. They showed him gettin tanned, thinned, hair growing, but never any beard :P I disagree to believe he was underaged for that. :) Nor did he ever dehydrate or dry up. Agreed, they show him with the supply of drinking water, but the heat and the number of days he was stranded is enough to dehydrate anyone if not till death. Another flaw, missed showing on high contrasting temperature differences in ocean. Oceans usually have extreme chilly nights and equally hot days. He is all comfortable with one kurta or no kurta at all. Difficult for me to understand. Perhaps, his belief in god was keeping him warm :P
  • The character of the novelist, to whom the story was narrated, was himself never scripted properly :P He being a writer, gotto be having a lot of patience. And when you see his capacity, you see him gettin impatient more than often, and wanting to fast forward the entire story to the point where he immediately starts believing in god, as if he was an atheist till now :D
  • The open end towards what was shown about adult Pi's family lacked clarity as well. Those who read the book may tell, whether he ever went back to get his love and married his sweetheart or it was a complete new estlablishment alltogether
  • And of course it was left to the people to infer, out of the two stories in the movie that he narrates, which one was true :) And after watching a true to believe fantasy story, you wont want to perplex your mind with another story, in fact you even loose patience to listen to his second narration after 2 hours of the duration already covered
  • And finally, the 3D was not all that worth it

Luv Shuv te Chicken Khuraana

Cast: Kunal Kapoor, Huma Quereshi
Director: Sameer Sharma
Genre: Comedy, Drama

Time pass flick. A lil over hyped post release.

Pluses:
  • Kunal Kapoor looked stud. We are seeing him after quite a while. He did his best job. Long time seen as a lead in any flick
  • Huma Quereshi is adorable. Her weight issues are overlooked for her acting skills and charisma. Thanks to 'Wasseypur', she shined as she stood to be the only one out of the ordinary looking league of people, grabbed the limelight :) No looking back, but she isnt meant for the mainstream. We gotto see if that gives birth to another star out of of main stream or just another lady fading away gradually
  • Mystery of Chicken Khurana was wrapped up well, and unveiled not once but twice in the duration of the flick
  • I personally loved the character of Dolly Ahluwalia. She is a real charismatic woman, and such flawless acting. Remember the 'Vicky Donor' days :)
  • All the other supporting characters are very well woven, everyone have equal roles to play. The distribution of roles to each is worth commenting. None wasted
  • You will love the character of Rajesh Sharma(the adopted crack mama). He builds in 70% of the humor in the movie

Minuses:
  • Script was written keeping humor in mind. But it doesnt really live upto the genre. It feels more of a drama which keeps going on and on without any direction
  • Music is passe
  • Too lengthy. A lot editing was required

1920 Evil Returns

Cast: Aftab Shivdasani, Tia Bajpai, Vidya Malvade
Director: Bhushan Patel
Genre: Horror

Complete waste of time. Not worth a watch

Pluses:
  • You may not mind watching it when drunk :D
  • Music is not all that bad, though a little funny lyrics here and there, otherwise audible
  • As you can see posters are good :D But not the content :(

Minuses:
  • Aftab Shivdasani wasted. Not that he is otherwise a very utilized actor, i still think of 'Kasoor' days, he could have done some better movies nonetheless
  • Vidya Malvade wasted. All she has done in her entire film career is 'Chak De'. Never anway showed a great potential, she only proves the same everytime she is seen on screen
  • Tia Bajpai is hopeless. No good at acting nor looks. Boring romance, boring possessed woman to tolerate
  • Script has no content at all, the mystery feels so jaded. Climax is equally trash. Vikram Bhat now should retire
  • Bad cinematography, bad background scores, bad editing. Nothing chilly or spooky about the whole persentation. Hogwash!!!

My rating: 1.5/5

Ajab Gazabb Love

Cast: Jackky Bhagnani, Nidhi Subbaiah, Arjun Rampal
Director: Sanjay Gadhvi
Genre: Romance, Comedy

Actually not a bad watch. Watch it with a light heart and entertainment is guaranteed

Pluses:
  • The USP of the movie is its simplicity and light humor. No adultery and a clean movie for the entire family
  • Watch the movie not for the romance but for the humor
  • Arjun Rampal, this guy just cant stop looking suave and swanky. A real dude in all respects
  • Jackky Bhagnani, tried giving his best, be it building his body, or all his attempts to dance, or acting, be it even to look good. I still cant say he is someone best in the market, not even close to that in fact. But as long as he doesnt look like an eye sore, its taken :)
  • Nidhi Subbaiah, looks charming. Started with pathetic, unbearable acting, but later did catch up, looked close to natural
  • Music is a plus point for a change. Its good to ears and locations shot for the song sequences were good to eyes :)
Minuses:
  • Coming majorly from a romantic genre, its diappointing. Romantic angle is quite cliche, on the top of it idiotic and the couple dont look charming at all together
  • Wont like to dig more into minuses, cos it never set any huge expectations on which i be disappointed

Ted

Cast: Mark Wahlberg, Seth MacFarlane(Voice of Ted), Mila Kunis
Director: Seth MacFarlane
Genre: Comedy, Fantasy

Absolute entertainment. Less of a kids thing but more of a guys thing.

Pluses:
  • Seth MacFarlane, for creating the character 'Ted' and producing it as well :) He was a very convincing voice behind a live fluffy toy
  • The character of Ted may get some mixed reviews, i shall have my take on both, but i cant deny the fact that it never failed to amuse the audience throughout, and without whom the movie will have nothing to boast about. Ted is funny, he is adult, he is a best buddy, he has commitments and at the same time he can be irresponsible. Ted is a mixed bag and very well explained how it grew up to be something like this :)
  • Its a best watch with your gang of buddies, not over a popcorn certainly but some beer :)
  • Script is written very light heartedly, it doesnt invite too much of criticism. However,i am glad that it was released in India :P
  • Mark Wahlberg, felt more of a supporting character in the presence of Ted, Nevertheless, his role was equally involving and important. He did his best job
  • Mila Kunis, didnt have much to do, it wasnt her story after all. She did well in what she was asked to do
Minuses:
  • A big NO to the ignorant parents who may mistake it to be a kiddie stuff. Parents are sure to repent if they commit this mistake. And thats a flaw in the way the movie was promoted. It looked very much a Universal flick to the ignorant eyes. Its a big time adult flick
  • Here is where i can say, the character of Ted at a lot of instance was over done, could be even called way too offensive and a few things could be parked at the bay

Rush

Cast: Emraan Hashmi, Neha Dhupia, Aditya Pancholi, Sagarika Ghatge
Director: Shamin Desai
Genre: Thriller

Actually not a bad watch. Not to go by the box office success, this movie faired in my eyes.

Pluses:
  • Emraan Hashmi, he may not look good, but he very well can act much more than just kissing his heroines around :P Doesnt disappoint here either as an ardent Crime reporter with some brains :)
  • Neha Dhupia does a role that suits her, extremely feminish Indian roles or that of a slut doesnt actually go by her somehow. She shines as a corporate woman
  • I have always loved Aditya Pancholi, he cannot look poor :D as simple as that. He is rich corporate honcho and the bad guy of the movie, very much convincing
  • The script never slows down anywhere and that keeps you going. Needless to say, the story unravels the reality of media, news channels and their running authorities. I really dont mind watching a flick with some sense in it after all, sad to witness the box office is fairing for the ones without one
  • Again goes without saying, music is always plus factor in an Emraan Hashmi flick. Its good to the ears

Minuses:
  • Sagarika Ghatge, after so long that you get to see her onscreen, i wonder was she in a derth of any script at all so many days or she didnt want to pick any. I still cant figure out what made her choose this particular role, this one had nothing much for her to perform nor did she have any strength in the role to stand her out
  • I guess the movie needed tadkas like that of Madhur Bhandarkar flicks to make a box office success for a reality based show. This one clearly lacked it

Cloud Atlas

Cast: Tom Hanks,Halle Berry, Hugh Grant, Jim sturgess,Jim Broadbent,Ben Whishaw,Doona Bae
Director: Tom Tykwer, Andy Wachowski, Lana Wachowski
Genre: Drama,Sci-Fi

A very lengthy and boring movie for a casual audience. A movie not for all, much deeper than what you perceive.

Pluses:
  • Six stories, interweaved in different centuries, and all the characters played beautifully their individual parts
  • Doona Bae deserves stand alone appreciation. She beautifully portrays a naive lady who starts with zero emotions and all work, to someone who stands out to be the face of a huge revolution, and her love for the man who saves her life
  • As for Ben Whishaw, this comes out to be one character who never forgets his love through the various course of his life however short. A gay by nature, never ever witnessed something so beautiful and so gleefully presented when being a homesexual was a taboo even in western countries during that era. Or be it his love for music that he develops over time and the cry for freedom so as to publish his own creation. Finally, the one line he says before he ends his life, that suicide takes a lot of courage and its not for the faint hearted, just wins you over
  • Three different directors, different work, commendable
Minuses:
  • I believe many appreciated the attempt to showcase how energy travels from one generation to another and gives birth to revolution in every life. However, i dont think i can appreciate this all that much. The revolutions were on individual level except for one story which is based in the future of 2144. Such revolutions lies in everyone of us, doesnt really show any flow of energy to me
  • Instead, the story felt exhumingly large, and you keep watching each time the different turn of stories with practically no big event happening till the end. I felt quite empty even after the movie ended. Your head as nothing in it and you feel blank
PS: I would appreciate someone explaining me the depth beneath which i fail to see. Anyone!!

Jab tak hai jaan

Cast: Shahrukh Khan, Katrina Kaif, Anushka Sharma
Director: Yash Chopra

A lenghty boring flick. Nothing new, nothing special, nothing teary either :P

Pluses:
  • Anushka Sharma, i admired her more than any other big names in the movie. She is her usual bubbly self. A bit tom boyish for the flavor of the character, but very much adorable
  • Shahrukh's attempt to dance in ' Ishq Shava' is commendable, he gave nice shots for his age and ability to dance. However, Katrina had to be downgraded (someone please tell her to do something more than just fondling her own assets), not her to be blamed, co dancer was below her level after all :)
  • I loved the cameo by the duo, Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh. They make a wonderful couple.
  • The one aspect i absolutely am loving in the new generation Bollywood movies, is the sarcasm towards popular godly belief that people nest within themselves. Its a reality check for almost everyone, and also an opportunity to correct yourself from being supersitious and overdoing things
  • Locations were soothing but nothing new to your eyes.

Minuses:
  • Storyline, very very stupid, nothing alluring, nothing romantic and absolutely zero logic or any sense
  • Shahrukh Khan is now time out. Looked his worst i believe. He looked like an uncle to Katrina and a father to Anushka. He didnt even have any powerful dialogue to deliver, no larger than life like role, quite a disappointment for the so called 'King of Bollywood'
  • Katrina, i believe has done her worst script written for her ever. Think of herself in 'Namastey London' or 'Zindagi na milegi dobara', and see her here. Dullest, most confused, utterly idiotic character for a modern woman, cocconed in her own world of superstitions
  • Music was another big let down. Coming from 3 great names, the musical maestros, the music is comlpetely passe
  • The length of the movie was another irritating factor. I kept on waiting for the interval and the movie to end. Most useless love story ever seen coming from big brands as these

Paranormal Activity 4

Cast: Kathryn Newton,Matt Shively,Brady Allen, Aiden Lovekamp
Director: Henry Joost, Ariel Schulman

Useless flick. Nothing new to watch.. please avoid if you are looking for something new

Pluses:

Some tiny bit of stuffs keeps happening throughout. At least the viewer will hope for something better to happen next. And thats the only thing to keep you going

Minuses:
  • The climax, hopelessly pathetic. You are not sitting through the movie to see everybody just mysetriously and abruptly die. When you come for a horror flick, you want to see them die bit by bit, thats the pysochology :P
  • Script was clearly poor, could have been much better, at least the plot in the beginning to have a mysterious kid at your place was spooky, one can drive it from here, but alas! This movie fails to deliver in all respects

PS: I watched the flick all alone in a vacant theater :D

Chasing Mavericks

Cast: Jonny Weston, Gerard Butler
Director: Michael Apted, Curtis Hanson

A beautifully made movie. I already declare it a movie of the month on Personal Choice :)
Its a must watch for all adventure sports lover

Pluses:
  • Brilliant photography/videography in and off the water
  • Very subtly but strongly put philosophies and ideologies. I loved the one on Four Pillars of a Human Life, and the building up of the same during the course of the movie
  • Nothing better can do it apart from the fact that it is a real life story of surfing legend. Hats off to the man himself
  • Jonny Weston played the character very aptly. You can very well see the urge and the craze consistenly to win over the waves, and this particular interest no more than any gal or any hobby
  • Gerard Butler, a very strong character, mentally and physically. He lives for his only passion to surf and that he continues till his family takes over, nevertheless he gives birth to a teenage surfer and a legend for the world to remember
  • I found this particular fact so amazing that even though the plot relates to sport and sport only, they very well managed to weave the family aspect of the two families, and for an instance, the family angle was so so important in the movie. Be it the very irresponsible and careless mother of 'Jay Moriarity' or be it the caring and loving wife of 'Frosty' and the reverse feelings of the son to his mother and the husband to his wife. Brief but a loverly portature
  • And not to the least, the relationship between the trainer and the student, just moves you
  • The movie not only mesmerises but at the same time leaves a moving message to all those fanatics who cross all boudnaries and keep pushing their edges to satisfy their never ending appetite
  • In all the movie feels so complete without any of the ends hanging

Minuses:

Even if there is any, i chose to ignore :)

Student of the Year

Again another overhyped flick the typical Karan Johar style. Not worth it

Pluses:
  • Undoubtedly Varun Dhawan :) Though both the lead guys were presentably hunks, but by the end of the movie you just know its the charm of 'Rohan Nanda' that wins the heart. He is pretty expressive for a new comer
  • Siddharth Malhotra was fine for a debut, however his acting skills and dancing skills needs to be honed :)
  • Alia Bhatt had one quality worth mentioning, is her stardom(not yet being a star :P). She has the larger than life attitude and aura in her which shows a lot of confidence in how she acts
  • Music was quite good for that matter. Some nice dance numbers

Minuses:
  • Alia Bhatt, she is not a heroine material at all. Petite body and face, a big turn off. And not to miss, a big time copy cat of Kareena Kapoor(Talk to me about it) :D
  • Direction and presentation the Karan Johar style miserably fails to impress me anymore. It feels like the movie is built with new faces in old shirts, replicas of Karan Johar pivots
  • He needs a major revamp in his style of movie making. His larger than life sets minus the class makes it look even more stale
  • And ohh for god's sake no more aunties and uncles as cameos in dance numbers. Yet again Kajol and this time in a high slit dress, absolutely unbearable
  • Rishi Kapoor, disappointing. He has earned a lot of respect over time. Portraying roles like this is quite degenrating
  • Script as expected is baseless, cueless and very low in standards
  • There were a few instances where you actually feel embarrassed at the indicative adult content of applying body massage with moans and groans. Disgusting!

Premium Rush

Not a bad watch. If you are a cycling fan, you will like it even more :)

Pluses:
  • High pulsating movie, most of the times on the run, it never slows down
  • Joseph Gordon Levitt as the lead character of the flick did an awesome job, not much of acting skills required but more of cycling for sure :)
  • Micheal Shannon as the bad guy was convincing, his extreme urge and his frustration was clearly visible from the first scene
  • Dania Ramirez as the female lead also did her best job, again more on cycling
  • A small portion played by Sean Kennedy for another cyclist is worth a mention
  • The story tries to conceal its secret until sometime, where the pointer lies most of the time to something illegal when suddenly the climax changes the realization into a more dramatic angle, which is not all that bad

Minuses:
  • For a non cyclist, it gets a tad too boring watching a chase sequence throughout the entire length of the movie
  • Until the mystery is revelaed, it almost gives you a feeling as if the story is going no where and you are here just to watch some cycling moves and stints

Taken 2

One another Taken series. Not a bad watch

Pluses:
  • I personally liked Maggi Grace's character. She had a role to play and she was good at it.
  • Liam Neeson was his regular self but now his age starts showing up on screen pretty eminently
  • The script of the movie is something you can go for, nothing extraordinary but it doesnt fail to keep you entertained throughout and so goes for the direction
  • The location shoot, Turkey(Istanbul). There is something with it, the government there seems like promoting big time tourism. This is the fourth movie in a row which shows Istanbul
Minuses:
  • Liam Neeson too old for action, it rather felt like lazy action sequels wherever there was man to man coalition :P
  • The bad guys were not bad enough, made it look like a piece of cake to escape, should have been more rough to make things look more entertaining :)

Skyfall

Overly hyped and no content.Highly disappointing for a Bond flick.

Pluses:
  • Judi Dench had maximum exposure as she was the one getting executed in this flick :P and also since there were more dialogues than action :D
  • Javier Bardem as the bad guy was very much convincing.Loved him more than the Bond himself
  • The philosophical concepts like that of a 'rat', was nice, but may be this one grabbed some attention since the rest of the content was hopeless
  • A few locations in China were beautiful, but you would hardly ever know if they were real or made up
  • Berenice Marlohe as the bond girl was pretty good and hot, even though nothing much to do in the entire movie
Minuses:
  • Sam Mendes tried to overhaul the character of Bond, something similar as to what was done to the character of a Batman and there was a Dark Knight born. But for god's sake, we go more for the action in a Bond flick than a human drama
  • Least minutes of action that you would ever witness in a Bond movie
  • Daniel Craig wasted with more and more questions on his age and capabilities to perform as an agent. He was all poses and no work throughout. You could hardly ever see any output from him
  • Technology and gadgets were more of a mockery subject than ever used to its modern times
  • Storyline was just about ok and quite regular as for any action flick but definitely far less for a bond movie. As i quoted before i wasnt prepared for a human drama
  • The length of the movie actually bored me, all the time waiting for some action, some content

Argo

You cannot miss this one. A seat binding thriller based on true story.Easily movie of the month.

Pluses:
  • Ben Affleck, beautifully presented and charismatically ripped
  • Powerful story, reiterated well. There are many movies built on real life happenings, but there are not many who can keep your arse at the edge of the seat in the climax
  • All the other characters of the movie and the captives were very natural, it gives you a feeling of being captive yourself
  • A blend of humor with such a serious story is just amazingly weaved. And thats makes your movie experience complete
  • All the human emotions portrayed very well, be it the extreme fear, risk, self esteem, freedom or humor
  • One movie after very long which left me with some after effects. You feel good being free and moving around without any fear

Minuses:

There is no script to be blamed for neither music. Movie is presented so well, that you really need to be a jerk to be adamant enough to find a loophole

English Vinglish

Movie based on morals of an Indian Woman. A good watch for an entire family.

Pluses:
  • After eons that i can proudly say, that it is a movie meant for the entire family and relevant to every member of a family
  • Sridevi is the only intelligent comeback that i have witnessed so far, brilliant selection of a story. She sets and example to all the other last generation heroines that after a certain age you shouldnt attempt to look hot :P
  • Sridevi had quite a natural acting and pulled off a home maker's and a mothers role perfectly well. Cheers to her!!
  • The simplicity of the script is perhaps the USP of the movie. It is no extraordinary but given the mindless junk remakes of South Indian flicks that were coming off late to Bollywood, this one made a hell lot of sense :D
  • The intentions of the movie was met, all the morals and values of an Indian woman rightly and beautifully put forth

Minuses:
  • The music was just about ok, forgettable
  • Duration again, was a bit too long. Easily could be edited
  • Ironically, where Sridevi is playing a character of a hard core Hindi speaking woman, herself fumbled a lot of times and not very clear with her speech

OMG: Oh my God!

A very different concept, though we all know its yet not original, but in the end an Indian copy. Very much taken :) Its a good watch nerverthelss :)

Pluses:
  • An eye opener for a lot of people, if not all. The roots of the story and its intentions go quite deep but presented only on the surface. Those who can grab it will be enlightened for life :D
  • A tight slap on all the godmen, and hyprocritic practices in India.Concepts of such kinds needs to be bought upon, a very controversial and unsafe topic to deal with, couldnt be presented any better than through a fictional character and mode of drama blended with humor.
  • Paresh Rawal is the lead of the movie, and wat a charismatic guy. He pulls the role off with utmost ease.
  • Akshay Kumar had more or less cameo role in the movie, however omnipresent in the entire flick. Apart from the fact how weird he looked in the avatar of a god in the end, i loved his swanky Avatar ;) If gods be this hot, i dont mind getting back to temples :P

Minuses:

Movie stretched a tad too long. Wasnt really required.

Delhi Safari

Very cute flick for all the kids and adults. Should give it a try.

Pluses:

  • The USP of the flick lies in its dialect in a true Mumbaiker style.Gives you a very Indianised feel from the regular animated movies
  • The dialogues were very well written, usual animation flicks are way too cute, this one gives you a different flavor
  • All characters were very well sketched, each one of them had personal touch of every state
  • Every emotion was well portrayed. Be it the family angle or self esteem/attitude or wit and even humor
  • The script however reminds you of Madagascar trail.Nevertheless, in doesnt draw too much of comparison
  • There are quite a few numbers in the flick, which are all mostly fun. Music which wont bore you at the least
  • A light hearted film for all ages

Minuses:

  • Animation was never at par excellence with Pixar. It was very very average. You can easily make out the locomotives to be very robotic and not life like
  • A few contents here and there which is sort of adult and may not be a very good idea to be exposed to the kids

Heroine

Not worth the hype and promotions. Average flick.

Pluses:
  • Ranvir Shorey did his part well, however even his image had to be much more stronger as a character, which is absolutely a directors fault
  • Shahana Goswami, she is one actress who proved is not exactly a directors baby. She can perform given anywhere :) This positive about her can also be a negative where the movie requires you to be a directors baby.Only time shall see how she grows in the industry
  • Lillete Dubey was a beautiful mother. I loved her
  • There were strong presence of dialogues and the story did have the potential. Alas!! All mis placed.
  • Thanks to Salim-Sulaiman for making 'Halkat Jawani' and Sunidhi Chauhan for singing it so beautifully. One should pay attention to only the track and ignore the video completely
  • All the pluses are more or less merely vote of thanks :P There is absolutely nothing to flourish the movie

Minuses:
  • The direction entirely is to be blamed for. I wonder if Madhur Bhandarkar himself directed it. The expectations are a lot and sad that he disappointed this time
  • Next is the casting. The entire cast was just not apt. Be it Kareena, who looks half her star image; be it Arjun Rampal, quite a suprressed character; or be it Randeep Hooda, the cricketer image looked like a prank on him :P Or even the supporting casts, the small time actors, directos, actresses etc that they portrayed, none had a star image, all looked like small screen actors
  • I would like to mention Kareena Kapoor yet again, as she is supposed to be the soul of the movie. She just doesnt look like a larger than life character, be it off screen or on screen. She looks rather dull barring a few scenes past interval. A big mistake. She might be able to sell herself with endorsements but surely not movies and one of those central characters, no ways
  • The plot was dealing with glamor industry, the same as we have seen in 'Fashion', the only plus that could have saved the movie would have been the direction, failing which the plot fell apart
  • The script had to be more crisp. I have no idea what kinda character sketch was that of 'Mahi Arora', a very confused and laid-back somebody. Did Madhur try to portray one of a case from Bollywood or did he try make a ugly remark on all actresses that they are bipolar in nature :P
  • However, there were one or two tracks which were musically good, but the choreography just killed it. The biggest example being 'Halkat Jawani'
  • The entire movie just felt very garish. Even those few strong dialogues couldnt save it

Barfi

Declared: The movie of the year :) A must watch for all souls.

Pluses:
  • A big relief from Bollywood, kudos to Anurag Basu for showering us with such beautiful moments with 'Barfi'. Brilliant direction and hard hitting experience
  • A big thumbs up to Ranbir Kapoor. He proves it again, that being a good actor isnt enough, nor having a great bod. What makes you a star is the choice of movie you star in. Who says having great expectations puts a lot of pressure on the actor to perform. He does it everytime and with so ease and yet never fails to deliver multiple movies in a year.A big critic to all the other big names and brands in bollywood
  • Priyanka Chopra too comes with  big relief. She was forgotten post Fashion. She had to prove she aint just another Diva, and someone labelled as THE HEROINE and sold. It costs you a lot to be called as a good actor. Cheers to her
  • A lot of South Indian actresses forayed in Bollywood off late. But on my score, Ileana is the only one who passed. She isnt surely a star material, but she charms you in the journey with 'Barfi' wading through different stages of life as the character ages. Her role was equally important where she did hold some key decisions to make, without which the love story wudnt be complete. Good choice to debut in Bollywood under the umbrella of Anurag Basu
  • Never to miss on the script. Such beautiful script, such spellbounding concepts, simplicity put with such ease. Humor which wont age so soon and can be watched again and again. Kudos to scripting
  • This is labelled as a QUALITY movie in close to 3 years in Bollywood, absolutely no dirt, a very clean and truly a UNIVERSAL movie. You can take your family and kids and enjoy without any adulteration threats :P
  • The jingle in the beginning of the movie is worth mentioning. Innovative concept. It has a lot deeper roots to what you experience in the movie, it aint just for fun
  • Love story RE-DEFINED. The take home is not how the disabled or mentally challenged bond, but a tough realisation for all the city dwellers, on how a very simple but yet a deep connect is polluted between two people in today's world with filthy things. It WAS beautiful back then and it can STILL BE so beautiful
  • USP of the flick, there are no villains, no dirt, no ugliness, nothing gore, no wordly truth or reality check. Just an experience
  • The background score was soothing and apt for the movie
Minuses:

Barfi could have had some more beautiful numbers in terms of music. Forgettable songs

The Bourne Legacy

A brand new look with Jeremy Renner. You wont be disappointed. Good action.

Pluses:
  • Fast pace of the second half rips off the reputation of the Bourne series. Hold on until you watch the second half.
  • Good action, brilliant chase sequence in the heavily trafficking roads of Manila. You will be at the edge of the seat throughout.
  • Jeremy Renner does the justice to the character. Not comparing here with Matt Damon at all. He very finely pulls of the role and meets the demands of the role.
  • Rachel Weisz as 'Dr. Marta Shearing' plays an equally important character. The duo put together with Jeremy do a good job of entertaining you as long as the movie lasts.

Minuses:

  • The plot of the movie is so so, nothing new, nothing great. But i dont think you give much of a damn to the story line where the USP of the flick is action.
  • However, first half kinda disappoints you cos theres not much of any content in it except for you to sit back and solve a simple puzzle made complex :P

Gangs of Wasseypur 2

Continuation to the first part. Ditto storyline, just the characters differ.

Pluses:
  • Feel of the movie is the same. I count this as a plus and a minus both, however weightage goes more as a plus since it doesnt fail to entertain you, nor does it disappoint you.
  • This one has Nawazuddin Siddiqui aka 'Faizal Khan' as the male lead, and gives you a terrific performance to watch for.A drug addict and a faint character, how he bounces back to shine as the brightest star...is definitely worth a lot of applause. You can yet see glimpses of his suppressed sketch which unwraps only in front of his beloved wife. Amazingly written and beautifully portrayed.
  • Huma Qureshi aka 'Mohsina' as the female lead grabbed quite a bit of limelight and glad to see that she had quantifiable role in this one.
  • The character of 'Nagma Khatoon' played by 'Richa Chadda' was fab.
  • Out of the other new characters added, the role of 'Definite' played by Zeishan Quadri is worth a mention.
  • Sense of humor yet again in its own subtle way but very very effective and well placed in the context.
  • Music however not very quality stuff, but plays a very important background scoring as the movie advances. It entertains you as well as hits you hard.
  • You can once again expect all the pluses of the first part, its no less dark or any less gore.To summarise, its a full on adult flick.

Minuses:
  • The storyline as i mentioned before feels a little repetitive. You may think it could have been downloaded and watched instead of coming to theatres.
  • The character played by Reema Sen as ' Durga' was very strong but subdued. She was wasted in this one especially when we wanted to see more of her.

Step Up 4: Miami Heat

Its a movie on a particular genre: DANCE. And it never fails to blow me out. :) A must watch for those who appreciate dance.

I will specifically recommend it those guys who can lay back their lazy ass in their comforts of the couches at home and watch all the nonsense dance reality shows over Indian televsion without a miss, but not make an effort to go in a theatre to watch a quality show.

Its a strong criticism against Indian television and their reality shows which runs out of public drama, celebrity bullshit and the hopeless audience supporting it. Alas! I have stopped watching television due to lack of quality content.

Pluses:
  • It surely cant beat Step up 2 in quality of dance, that was the best. But wat makes Step up 4 yet equally cherishable are the concepts. Brilliantly innovative each time they perform. Its an eye treat and hence a sure watch in big screens only
  • The three main leads Kathryn McCormick as 'Sean', Misha Gabriel as 'Eddy' and Kathryn McCormick as 'Emily' puts forth their best in furnishin the dream of making the project Miami Heat a success, while they dance or when the act.
  • The grand finale battle is brilliantly and innovatively choreographed. You can expect some cameos from the dancers of the previous series, and i so bet you cannot resist yourself from cheering and whistling at their flashes. They dont just deliver a dialogue and go, they perform :)
  • Expect some quality street style dancing at its best with no special effects unlike other dance genre movies that released recently viz. 'Street Dance 2'.

Minuses:

Wish the dancers gave some more of individual performances beating one another the street style way. The movie boasts of many formations but less of individual performances. The leads of the movie loose a lot of their charm there.

Jism 2

A very average flick. The only sellng point i believe is the hype created around Sunny Leone.

Pluses:
  • For all the readers who will expect the first point to be mentioned as Sunny Leone, well then...no denial, she is a treat to watch in the big screen with most of the time having minimal clothes on. Alas! To watch her without any apparel, you still have to refer to her porn site. :P
  • Arunoday Singh as a secret agent 'Aayan', plays a good role. A perplexed character often trying to deceive you.
  • Randeep Hooda as a cop turned into an extremist 'Kabir', is as his usual self. You would have seen him many times in a similar role. Distressed lover with a strong attitude.
  • Script was just about fine.It aint a bad one, however nothing great.
  • Music of the movie is a plus point, very soothing to the ears, however the frequency at which it is placed in the movie, gets to be a bit irritating, where you almost start feeling that you have done a mistake having come to watch a musical thriller apparently.

Minuses:
  • Comparitively, the original 'Jism' was much more hard hitting, and i absolutely loved the character of Bipasha and John in it. The sequel however doesnt create much of any impact.
  • The direction seemed to be a tad poor. Most of the acting didnt look at par with the standards.Had a lot more expectations from the Bhatt camp.
  • Very slow in motion, you will keep yawning while waiting for Randeep Hooda to deliver his dialogues.
  • Sunny Leone as 'Izna' is good as a porn star, a big zero in acting. Over expressive at places which looks pretty artificial. The only expression which she perfects is the oomph and aahs!! Her short height is quite a demerit for her image.
  • Jism is always known for a very strong role of a female lead. However, this one terribly fails to deliver the same.

Ice Age 4: Continental Drift

A super entertaining movie. Long long time having loved an animation flick so much :)

Pluses:
  • Given that most of the characters are already known, its no surprise what should be expected outta 'em.
  • Humor was very well woven, all the characters steal your heart with their beautifully scripted diaogues.
  • Unlike most other animated movies which has half done stories, this one has a neatly done script. Even the adults shall never feel bored.
  • Guys, do not miss out the sountrack of 'Chasing the sun' by The Wanted.

Minuses:
  • 3D could have been better, quite a waste otherwise.
  • No change in quality of animation except for the waves and water which feels pretty surreal.

Superman of Malegaon

Ingeniously hilarious and entertaining flick. More sort of a documentary project but a brilliant make. A recommended watch.

Pluses:
  • Amazing characters. So austere in nature but yet so full of pride. All the characters were full of life.
  • An absolute satirical presentation. You will love every moment in it.
  • The length of the flick is very apt. You dont want it to be shorter or longer than this.
  • Concept, detailing, impostures...anything and just everyhing is so beautifully done.

Minuses:

I dont want to kill the fun with negative drilling in this brilliant make.

Madagascar 3

A very cute watch. You wont be disappointed.

Pluses:
  • All the characters were attuned to each other, so all of them were equally important and fun. :)
  • 3D was pretty good for a change, a treat to the eyes.
  • Is definitely a watch for all age groups.
  • Storyline was just very simple and easy to go with. Nice write up.

Minuses:

Nothing really notably wrong with the flick. Its too cute to go wrong :)

The Dark Knight Rises

Now this one surely is an over hyped flick. No where in comparison to the last one. However, no denial to the fact, its a good watch.

Pluses:
  • Christian Bale in and as 'Bruce Wayne' - The Batman, had a heroic portraiture to the movie, the one of a kinds who rises from the ashes. A true superhero.
  • Anne Hathaway as 'Selina' -The Catwoman :D was very very sexy and strong. An ever remaining hold on Batman looks like. All the men, you gotta impressive chic to check out.
  • Joseph Gordon as 'Blake' played a very important supportive character, without whom a lot of investigations would fade out.He is the face of the Gotham police and a detective :)
  • Other notably good supportive characters were namely Gary Oldman as 'Commissioner Gordon', Marion Cotillard as 'Miranda, Michael Caine as'Alfred'. All had pretty decent jobs to do.
  • The presentation as always the Christopher Nolan style, is marvellous. You gotto give it to him. The faith that he generates out of a not so blessed superhero with special powers is spellbounding. Its just the belief that the Batman is the only guy to rescue, make things happen.
  • Watch it for the big names, good action and power packed performances.

Minuses:
  • Tom Hardy as 'Blane', the villain on whom there were the maximum hopes and expectations when as compared with the Legendary character of the Joker played by Heath Ledger wasnt up to the mark. He failed to create the required amount of mental heat and tensions among audiences to the least. And the major setback was the climax when his so called strong character is reduced down to ashes with the re introduction of the hidden vamp.
  • An array of good actors were absolutely wasted such as: Morgan Freeman as 'Fox' and Cilian Murphy. Nothing much in their kitty to prove their calibre.
  • The screenplay wasnt as impressive as the its last series. I kept waiting throughout for some hidden motive to unfold, but things just kept going cliche until the climax when you have lost all the hopes.
  • I still believe it could have been a much better watch, it failed me.I dont have anything to take back home to think over after the flick. Watch and forget.

Gangs of Wasseypur

A must watch. However, a very dark, gore and adult flick with load of slangs. Beware.

Pluses:
  • Manoj Bajpai in and as 'Sardar Khan' gave an outstanding performance. You will fall in love with this character. Multiple shades of one person. He is romantic, he is humorous, he is dark, a brutual person yet scared of his wife. A nice sketch of an element.
  • Richa Chadda as 'Nagma Khatoon' and Reema Sen as 'Durga' played beautiful and very strong supporting characters.
  • The movie being dark and gore is a plus point as i definitely liked the bad side of it, however i count that for minus as well over a larger audience.
  • Watch it for its darkness, humor, bloodshed, adult contents and slangs as summarised above :) There is nothing more to it otherwise.

Minuses:
  • I dont agree to the script. It wasnt as strong as the characters. Looks like the major focus was on introducing innumerous characters and less on the story part. You tend to loose a track of the people in the end.
  • Very gore for faint hearted and Indian Audience, specially women and vegetarians :D
  • Music can be ignored, some may have liked it. somehow, i never call that a quality stuff.
  • The movie was stretced too far, that after a certain point of time, i was waiting to the see the climax and get done.

Rock of Ages

One very sexy, bold and an all time musically rock movie. A sureshot watch for music lovers of any genre.

Pluses:
  • Tom Cruise. OMG! This man stole it from me once again. Can never fade. One major factor to watch out this flick is the character of 'Stacee Jaxx'.
  • My personal favorite-Russell Brand as 'Lonny'. He played it really sexy in his own charm.
  • Diego Boneta and Julianne Hough as ''Drew Boley' and 'Sherrie Christian' respectively were the so called young kiddo lovers with some child like attitude and dreams. Nevetheless, main characters and pulled it off.
  • You have gotto expect the right thing from it. Its just and only about music , music and only music throughout. Expect less dialogues and most of the conversation via music.
  • Embrace yourself to get scandalized out of many adult contents offered to you by Tom Cruise :)

Minuses:
  • Every other character when had to be placed equally important were all greyed out in the strong screen presence of Tom Cruise. For good or for bad, the movie lost all here on its script part of it.
  • I hated the end of the flick. Nothing so rock about it, very Bollywood'ish in fact :P
