3 Days to Kill

Cast: Kevin Costner, Hailee Steinfeld(Zoey),Amber Heard(Vivi), Connie Nielsen(Chrstine)
Director: McG
Genre: Action, Crime,Drama

Average crime drama. Time pass flick

You may look forward to:
  • Father-daughter relationship more than guns and battles :)
  • Kevin Costner did well, to what was assigned to him. But his role was not a very apt for a serious role of an agent something
  • Hailee Steinfeld, teenage actor. Hmmmmm! Thats about it :)

What you can sleep over:

Amber Heard, bad girl??? I dont know what was she trying to do in the entire movie. Ummmmm....never mind! :)

The dampeners you should be aware of:
  • The name to the movie doesnt justify the plot much. The movie should have come with a lot of adrenaline rush. It rather looks more of a family drama. And what mediocrity, same old family drama
  • The movie lacks serious angle. Its more of a comedy blended with crime. Doesnt create any impact. Fails miserably
  • Blame it to the script entirely. Its very loose and doesnt give a very good build up. The writers should write a soft romantic story instead of crime thrillers

Ankhon Dekhi

Cast: Sanjay Mishra,Rajat Kapoor,Seema Pahwa(Amma),Namit Das(Ajju),Taranjit Kaur(Chachi),Maya Sarao(Rita), Chandrachoor Rai(Shammi)
Director: Rajat Kapoor
Genre: Drama, Fiction

Its a food for creative souls. Its not a mass appealing picture and not made for one!

You may look forward to:
  • Sanjay Mishra, his first solo breakthrough! And experienced enough already to surpass all critics :) I must say an apt selection of role. I bet none ever bothered to know his name before, and now everyone who knows about this movie, knows him as well(by name) :) He has done a fab job in here. Eccentricity personified. Subtle symptoms of old age and lessons of life, as you start accumulating various aspects of life, smaller nuances, lived or walk passed. Its a road to his self discovery, alone, no baggage!
  • This story is very simple, crazy rather, but a very good experiment. The story teaches you how you can yet discover things and learn new things from the same well, of which you are a frog from decades. One need not venture out of the well every time if you feel stagnated
  • Rajat Kapoor, gives us another very subtle but yet a beautiful experience. He is always a background element as an actor, and lets the a chosen somebody to take the lead. He lets the lead have a performance for his lifetime, or at least a good visibility. His movies are mostly and only about that central character
  • Seema Pahwa was amazing. She is such a perfect caricature of how a typical domestic wife is, ie minus any politics. She is very adorable
  • All other star casts were good performers in their own stands
  • Certain musical notes were beautiful, stimulates many strings of your ears

What you can sleep over:

If you wish to enjoy the experimental side of the movie, you have gotto ignore the dampeners

The dampeners you should be aware of:
  • Somewhere you feel its been dragged too long. Stories of such kinds thrive on dialogues, if the dialogues start feeling repetitive, you dont have much to look forward to
  • Certain instances like the many followers the central character had, was on what basis! I didnt get the ground of philosophy based on which he managed himself so many disciples
  • A lot of parallel inference is required to justify the gambling aspect of it, which was more or less missing
  • Parental aspect of a father(Bauji) to the son(Shammi) was missing
  • One more eccentric case in between was simply additional and wasnt required. If at all required, the message was not conveyed well

Need for Speed

Cast: Aaron Paul, Dominic Cooper, Imogen Poots(Julia),Scott Mescudi(Benny),Rami Malek(Finn),Ramon Rodriguez(Joe),Michael Keaton(Monarch)
Director: Scott Waugh
Genre: Action, Thriller, Crime

Now this movie thrills you :) Good things come in small packages :)

You may look forward to:
  • Amazing stunts, mind blowing cars and well crafted scenes. Do you need more!! :)
  • The story of the movie is pretty straight forward and simple. What makes it a pleasurable watch is the way it is presented and is executed. The pace of the movie never slows down, its not any mindless race every now and then to fill up the 2 hours. Yes, there is a storyline, and the movie gushes on that fast lane
  • Most of the movie is on the road. You get glimpses of really amazing tracks and San Francisco :)
  • Aaron Paul takes your breath away, surely he is the man of the race and the man of the tracks. Now a fan of him :)
  • Imogen Poots was our lady lead and thankfully not just an accessory. She has stuffs in the movie and she by no means disappoint you. Bravo!
  • Rest of the cast were awesome support, they have their own place and are omnipresent throughout the movie :) Cheers!

What you can sleep over:

Dominic Cooper, to his role, he didnt have much of any scope. His role could have been strengthened

The dampeners you should be aware of:

Nothing nothing. Its not a piece of art to criticize, its a movie which is built with an idea to keep you at the edge, and it successfully manages to do so :)

Ragini MMS 2

Cast: Sunny Leone,Saahil Prem, Parvin Dabas, Divya Dutta,Sandhya Mridul
Director: Bhushan Patel
Genre: Horror, Thriller

Does it offer any Quality Horror: No.
But will that hamper from men going and watching it: No :)

You may look forward to:
  • Selling Point of the movie is Sunny Leone. Good or bad, this movie is gonna do business and make money for its producers. She otherwise has gotten better than Jism 2 in terms of acting, yet not any close to good actor. She undoubtedly looks hotter than many Bolly heroines. Though much to your disappointment, there are no additional masalas she has to offer that we havent seen before, barring the extra ordinary implants :) Nevertheless, she looked quite convincing as a ghostly figure :) Wonder if now you can ever dream of making love to her even in your imaginations :P The ghostly look, good or bad for her career, remains the question :D
  • In the area of music, we have a few hit numbers already. You will enjoy them on big screens ;)
  • Saahil Prem is the only sober character in the flick. He remains as the only person sane and watchable :)

What you can sleep over:

Horror elements were very average. Yes, you dont need to wait too long to watch one spooky incident. You have spookiness all over the movie. But horrifying elements, in the end, doesnt spook you much :) Doesnt bore you either, so its all right :)

The dampeners you should be aware of:
  • Whats wrong with Sandhya Mridul. Never hated her as much as her role in here. Simply unsuitable
  • Divya Dutta, ha ha ha :) Was she a doctor? I want to see her certificate :P
  • Parvin Dabas, he is no close to any direction or even acting. All his foolishness and over acting makes him look such big time idiot, that you cant forgive him for his looks either :(
  • The script is pretty lame. Any given day, the original was better and spookier than this. All they did was to sell sex with this movie. Instead of a ghost, they could have made Sunny a serial killer, would make more sense! Something on the lines of 'Basic Instinct'...what say!!

Bewakoofiyaan

Cast: Ayushmann Khurrana, Sonam Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor
Director: Nupur Asthana
Genre: Comedy,Drama, Romance

Not a bad watch. Its an average level of Rom-Com

You may look forward to:
  • Rishi Kapoor :) He is my favorite :) He is a cute, arrogant father here :) Very very adorable. Just love this man for whatever he does :)
  • Ayushmann Khurrana. He is another adorable fellow. Though i didnt like him a bit in his last movie, but this one has him again, the way girls like him :)
  • The storyline is actually not bad, its a simple story, never promises huge. Watch it with a light mind and you will not regret it

What you can sleep over:
  • Sonam Kapoor, passe. She is too thin, for body or for lips. Shriek voice and nothing great to be an actor. Ohhh, and guess what! She is so forgettable even in a Bikini
  • Music is passe, easily forgettable

The dampeners you should be aware of:
  • If i have to blame anyone for its failure, it has to be Nupur Asthana's direction. The story is simple from the beginning. What makes simple stories a great success is the way its presented. Much better could have been done to utilize two really awesome people at work, viz, Rishi Kapoor and Ayushmann Khurrana
  • I still wonder, why is film title "Bewakoofiyaan"! May be i didnt catch it :D

Total Siyapaa

Cast: Ali Zafar, Yami Gautam,Kiron Kher,Anupam Kher,Sara Khan(Sister),Vishwa Badola(Grandfather),Anuj Pandit(Brother)
Director: Eeshwar Nivas
Genre: Comedy,Drama, Romance

Less laughter and more pain.Avoid if you are not keen on it. Expect nothing more than the trailers

The dampeners you should be aware of:
  • Absolute chaotic and delinked script, making no sense at all. Anyone can write a script like this, to whatever stupid comes to you mind, need not be linked to one another
  • Anupam Kher, such a waste. Why does he do roles like this! Huhhh!!
  • This one is haplessly irritating. Helps get you no entertainment. Seems like Director Eeshwar Nivas doesnt know what a script of such genre of movies should contain. There are ways to project insanity, and this is certainly not the way
  • Most non sense roles: Vishwa Badola and Anuj Pandit

What you can sleep over:
  • Sleep through the entire movie, with 1 or 2 pegs
  • Sara Khan was one weird character. Weirdly dressed, doing something , she doesnt know what is she into and why! Hopeless role

You may look forward to:
  • Thankfully, songs are less! One romantic number out of which is melodious
  • Ali Zafar, Yami Gautam and Kiron Kher, all of them on the same page. Nothing distinctive about one role to another. I would say Kiron Kher still outperforms the others

Gulaab Gang

Cast: Madhuri Dixit,Juhi Chawla, Tannishtha Chatterjee,Divya Jagdale,Priyanka Bose
Director: Soumik Sen
Genre: Action,Drama

Good to see female oriented movies in making, however this movie fails to create an impact

You may look forward to:
  • First half of the movie gives you a different impression, something we havent seen Indian actresses doing before, not from the actresses above 40 at least. First half gives better hope of what is coming next and you will sit through interval
  • Madhuri Dixit, yes she is still sustaining in Bollywood, and giving her best, much more than just dancing. She has a strong role and good portrayal
  • Here we see Juhi Chawla in power. She definitely outshines beyond boundaries. We havent seen her like this before. And a negative role is never easy to portray. Kudos :)
  • The other supporting star cast: Tannishtha Chatterjee,Divya Jagdale and Priyanka Bose, had significant roles and they played it very well

What you can sleep over:
  • Songs! Just too many. One or two is justified. But you tend to lose it with so many songs. Be patient :)
  • The story to begin with was interesting, though they totally screwed it up later. It ended up in a very dull show

The dampeners you should be aware of:
  • Second half screws everything up. Story moves completely from one direction to another, and the biggest let down being the climax.Absolutely brainless and unacceptable
  • The action scenes by women hailing from villages are insanely exaggerated. Women from villages can be aggressive and violent, even brutal, agreed! But they cant throw flying kicks, and they cant get away without any law infringements with the many murders spotlessly
  • I will blame the failure of this flick on the director majorly and then to the story, it yet is watchable nevertheless

300: Rise of an Empire

Cast: Sullivan Stapleton(Themistocles), Eva Green(Artemisia), Lena Headey(Queen Gorgo),Rodrigo Santoro(King Xerxes)
Director: Noam Murro
Genre: War,Action,Drama

After all the hype around the original 300, glad that this one doesnt disappoint. Re-live the graphics of 300 and enjoy the war :)

You may look forward to:
  • The make of the movie is pretty interesting. You have a prequel as well as a sequel to it, as the original story of 300 men sits exactly in the center of this movie. You get the flavor of both a sequel and the prequel :)
  • So do we have a more sensible and a better hero than King Leonidas?? So it seems, with the advent of Sullivan Stapleton. He not only absorbs the courage but as well, tactical, smart and much more sensible and practical than what we had seen in the original flick driven by King Leonidas. He is the man behind the final glory of Greece, as is portrayed in the fiction :)
  • The story has many shades of gray as compared to original movie. This one does bring forward the wrath of Greeks which gave birth to 'Artemisia' who in turn unleashes her wrath, full of revenge against the Greeks. They as well show the misery of slaves, divided rule amongst the Persians themselves. Seduction, vengeance, might, unity, responsibility, love and hatred, all in one :) And not the least, the war!
  • Eva Green, plays the lead this time on the negative side. She is epitome of beauty with skills. Well, that accounts for acting as well :) She is the one who is leading Persians for the entire movie. One lady to watch out for
  • The war scenes have beautiful cinematography, they are nature verses men, mostly in the water than on land. Spectacular :)
  • Lena Headey and Rodrigo Santoro, had shorter roles this time, nevertheless important

What you can sleep over:
  • Audience may find a part of the movie pretty gory. Though i enjoyed them all, many may not. Swim through it :)
  • 3D effects were just about ok. Nothin notably to mention

The dampeners you should be aware of:

Noam Murro ensures, he doesnt put forth any loop holes right on your face or any weakness of his movie served in a plate.
None!

Queen

Cast: Kangana Ranaut,Lisa Haydon,Rajkummar Rao,Mish Boyko(Alexander),Jeffrey Ho(Taka),Joseph Guitobh(Tim),Canadea Lopez Marco(Marcello)
Director: Vikas Bahl
Genre: Comedy, Drama

Amongst all the latest Bollywood flicks, this movie is a must watch! Smartly done flick!

You may look forward to:
  • Quite happy to have enjoyed something from Bollywood after a long time. This movie is complete fun, this one lives upto its expectations from the trailers and much more
  • Kangana Ranaut, undoubtedly. To me, this is easily her best performance ever. You would pity her when she cries but as well laugh at the way she is presented crying. Kangna portrays every single countenance with such ease and to such perfection
  • The story is a journey of a woman to her liberation,so well scripted. The many short quips are amazingly placed keeping the audience today in mind. Its near perfect for an entertainer. It never slows down or gives any surprises. Has a certain pace and maintains it, never adds unnecessary seriousness or sad moments
  • Vikas Bahl deserves a round of applause. Without him, this couldnt be possible to enjoy the movie so much. He ensures that you have a heart felt laughter throughout and you walk away with that. And thanks to him for avoiding any obscenity whatsoever
  • Lisa Haydon, Gosh!! Is she hot or is she hot! Terrific. One next to Kangna. She is an important character in the first half of the movie. And you would love to see the hottie with long legs speaking in French accent ,as well many a times in French
  • Rajkummar Rao, did his best to what the script demanded. Alas! He didnt have much of any content
  • All the supporting cast were fun
  • Music was lively and fun, Amit Trivedi doesnt fail :)

What you can sleep over:

Of course small nuances here there, may not be so practical. For instance, getting along with foreigners in an unknown land is not a big deal! Agreed! But not much a cake walk for a woman who has never been exposed to either. The scene at the strip club, now who would really just watch and come out happily along with our lady without further demands! But what the hell!! You can eat such small instances up and still enjoy the movie :)

The dampeners you should be aware of:

This movie is a joy ride. No criticism

Non-Stop

Cast: Liam Neeson, Julianne Moore, Scoot McNairy,Michelle Dockery(Nancy),Nate Parker(Zack),Scoot McNairy(Tom Bowen)
Director: Jaume Collet-Serra
Genre: Action,Crime,Thriller

Not a bad watch. Entertaining enough!

You may look forward to:
  • Liam Neeson, doing what he is best at :) Being screwed and challenged by some extortionist and in turn him jolting, breaking and solving the case. The difference being the location. This time on air :D
  • The script was conspicuous and thrilling, at least as much as needed to hold you back till the end. I have to agree, it was difficult catching the wrong men amongst the many. However the script wasnt full proof and had its own flaws
  • Julianne Moore had a key role, more though a supporting one
  • Rest of the cast were supporting and the mysterious bad men, which i wouldnt want to reveal, for you to watch for yourself :)

What you can sleep over:

The direction was unnecessarily a lil chaotic, could have been much cleaner

The dampeners you should be aware of:

There were some disconnections in the story here and there. A lame plot to frame 'Liam Neeson's' character when the real intention for the entire drama was anyway something else. The story overall doesnt make much of any sense

My rating: 3/5

Darr @ the Mall

Cast: Jimmy Shergill,Nushrat Bharucha,Arif Zakaria,Asif Basra,Vikram Raj Bhardwaj,Nivedita Bhattacharya,Yoshika Verma,Geet Sharma
Director: Pawan Kripalani
Genre: Horror, Thriller

Waste of time! A horror movie which doesnt manage to scare you is of no use

The dampeners you should be aware of:
  • Story is very loose. It offers nothing to excite you
  • There are only 2 instances on your finger tips which manages to shock you, beyond which you can watch the entire flick very comfortably without any eyebrow raising element
  • The role of Jimmy Shergill, didnt make any sense at all. All the suspense churning through the old hidden photographs, and trying to google it and form a story, make absolutely no sense, cos by the climax you get to know, he is the only one who should be knowing all of these by default. Why then all the drama. The very first scene itself didnt make any sense

What you can sleep over:

All the other star cast other than the ones mentioned below were simply passe

You may look forward to:
  • Jimmy Shergill, i think is the only reason why the audience would still go for this movie
  • The artistic portaiture of ghostly figure was definitely very enchanting. I would say more than scary, it was beautiful :)
  • Nushrat Bharucha, after quite sometime on large screens. Nothing notably special, barring the fact that she tried to look a little hot somethin :P
  • Arif Zakaria and Asif Basra had ordinary supporting role, men behind the ugly truth!

Dallas Buyers Club

Cast: Matthew McConaughey, Jennifer Garner, Jared Leto
Director: Jean-Marc VallĂ©e
Genre: Biography,Drama,History

A wonderful watch. A story full of life

You may look forward to:
  • Matthew McConaughey, undoubtedly. He is the one who teaches how to value life and more importantly why to value life. He is no role model, rather a guy who makes a living out of illegal trades, but he is the man who best knows how to trade life off. Brilliant acting, many cheers!
  • Jared Leto. ohh my!! So close to reality. Another beautiful actor who wonderfully acted a woman :) Such a best fit in the story of 'Woodroof', that her role almost looks like being scripted :) But without her, the story of 'Woodroof' wouldnt feel complete :)
  • Jennifer Garner, played a sensible support
  • Glad a story like this was picked up to be showcased into a full fledged movie. None is a hero here, no one is setting a role model or giving out a good moral in the end. Its just a life story but is so very positive. An undying urge to live of a dying man, without showcasing any act of sympathy and without a lot of unwanted drama
  • Directed very well, the content is a lot in the hands of the director. Whether to handle it subtle or to exaggerate, becomes the question. He did just the right :)

What you can sleep over:

Any aspect of the movie, if it so sounds unacceptable to you, dont succumb to it. The take home is not whats on the surface but whats underlying :)

The dampeners you should be aware of:

No dampeners :)

Shaadi Ke Side Effects

Cast: Farhan Akhtar, Vidya Balan,Ram Kapoor,Vir Das
Director: Saket Chaudhary
Genre: Comedy,Romance

Watch it only as a piece of entertainment. Draw no sense out of it and forgive the end

You may look forward to:

  • Short quips, presentation and flow of the events on a lighter mode
  • Farhan Akhtar and Vidya Balan, standing equally next to each other, sharing, loving and fighting out various ups and down in THEIR relationship
  • Ram Kapoor and Vir Das, had cheerful supportive roles

What you can sleep over:

Music is just passe, you will remember none

The dampeners you should be aware of:

  • Everything is overtly exaggerrated. You need not be married to judge that a married life aint all that bad, neither women are this crazy
  • Yet again, another anti marriage flick. May be the generation today doesnt want to marry at all. In that case, make live-in a reality and legalize it, fight for that, get a solution. Because, reinstating again and again that relationships have unsolvable issues and marriages are not meant to be trusted, wont do any good to society. Why then Priyadarshan is following the bandwagon of Karan Johar!!#$^$%
  • If only they could balance the end out, the movie good fair to be a 3/5, but alas! Indian film makers seem to have forgotten how to make good movies

My rating: 2/5
