Women's Day

Create new definitions of what it means to be a woman. If there is a box that society has created or one that you have created for yourself and you find that box confining, climb out of that box. If following the prescribed guidelines for femininity is the way to your bliss, then follow those! If you need to change those guidelines to suit your soul's need, change them! Let there be no rules except the ones you make for yourself. Allow yourself this freedom of self-definition and applaud its different versions in your fellow travellers. Be yourself and do us all proud!

My Name is Khan

Complete time pass flick.Highly over-rated. A pathetic script. I hate movies which are totally dedicated to one single star, just like MNIK built for Mr SRK. By the end of the movie, i almost felt like escaping out of the theatre. People will now throw eggs and tomatoes on me for such comments. But i cant help it if i find Karan Johar a waste director.

Plot:

This again goes back to 9/11. They have promised they wont let us get over that particular incident. No idea how many people died in this incident, but am v sure it cant be more than the victims of the recent eathquakes in Haiti or Chile or even any of such accidents in the history before 9/11 as well. But yet, we will always consider 9/11 as the biggest of all.

Anyway, Rizwaan Khan(SRK) is an autistic patient in the movie. Please dont mistake him for a brainless poor fellow :D He is actually v sharp. He can pick anythin up much quicker than any normal guy. Whatever he learns once, can never forget. He is almost an encylopedia of anythin and everythin. His family back in India consists of his poor mother and a younger brother, Zakir(Jimmy Shergil). Zakir always has a certain sense of insecurity from Rizwan, as Rizwan always gets more attention from his mom. They grow up, Rizwan turns out to be an early bread earner of the family. He can fix almost any machine. Zakir meanwhile flees out to US for highier studies in resentment.

Sometime later Zakir gets married, and calls his mom to US along with Rizwan. But before she could make her visit to US, she expires leavin Rizwan alone. Rizwan had promised his mother to be a happy man and make his own happy family. He sets out alone to US to his younger brother. Zakir is runnin a cosmetic company in US. He appoints Rizwan as one of the salesman there. Rizwaan is scared of 2 thins, viz yellow color and noise. One fine day, he faced both of his trauma causing reasons together in the middle of the road. That is where he first time comes across Mandira (Kajol). Looks like Karan just cudnt figure out how to introduce KAJOL. One stupid voice from behind and the person disappears instead of helpin the poor fellow, Rizwaan. :P Funny!! Thenafter he visits Mandira in a parlour, where she is a hair stylist. He endorses his bro's product and manages to sell it as well. Surprisingly Mandira was takin all the call to buy the products, herself being a mere employee :) Rizwan falls in love with her in the first sight itself. Now he is a regular visitor. Finds out all the details about Mandira. Mandira is a divorced mother of a teenager kid.

Now this time on, Rizwaan is crazy after Mandira, fallin every now and then on his knees proposin to her for getting married to him. Mandira avoids him for obvious reasons. Until and unless Rizwaan wins over a bet with Mandira, and she finally agrees to marry him :D How simple is that to woe a matured woman to take responsibility of an already challenged man along with her own growing kid :D But people, there's another strong reason after all :) Her kid Sameer starts likin the guy. Same old story repeated, a mother's heart n all that. Moral
of the story is, if u want to patao-fy a divorced mother, patao her kid first. :P Now they get married and are a happy family together. Rizwan stood upon the promise he made to his mother. Then happens the tragedy of 9/11. Same old story, all Asians are harrassed. And Muslims are even bigger victims. Post weddin, a Hindu Mandira has now become Mandira Khan. Now do i need to tell u the repurcussions of the same?? i dont think so :)

All the firangi frens are no more allies. Even the best fren of Sameer has left him. Next tragedy is Sameer's deadth. Karan tries to gain a lot of sympathy on this ground, while i was fuming with anger on my decision to watch this movie. The brave heart Sameer, takes all the unncessary panga with the senior students. Not just once, thrice, even after being beaten up already twice. Wat else do u expect guys, he was accidently killed by the big boys. His firang fren Reese is a witness but he is asked to keep his mouth shut. Mandira in despair turns Rizwaan out of her house. And when Rizwaan asks her, when he can get back, Mandira asks her to go and tell it to the entire US citizens, and why not the president of US directly, that he is a Khan, and he isnt a terrorist. Yes folks, that exactly is the reaosn why i am bound to mention this stupid conversation between Mandira and Rizwaan, cos this is the reason behind our Rizwaan to set out on a journey of his own to catch upon the president of US :P This turn off factor is a reason enough for me to leave the theatre.

But i continued, brave heart myself. :) But i wudnt waste a lot of my time commentin on the rest of the movie. Its a complete waste here after. The worst part are the scenes related to Hurricane hit US region in Georgia. First our hero Rizwan, followed by media people, in turn to be followed by bhai-bhabhi...even Mandira, and also not to leave alone his enemies, all gathered one by one to get to help or to hurt our hero,in the worst of the places, Hurricane hit Georgia :P Where people are dyin, no medical aid or anythin provided to them even by the govt, due to inaccessibility. But our filmi guys make it there. :) Worst part of the movie. And please dont be disappointed guys. Our hero will meet the president you know!!! Election happens in US, now the president is our Barack Obama who is played by a black actor :D And our Rizwan, not alone but with his wife meets the president, and finally tells him that he is Khan and not a terrorist. :D Applauds!!!! Sigh!!! What a story, what a waste of time.

No sympathy at all on anyone's death or misery in the movie. No romance at all between Kajol and SRK except for a few places where they talk bout sex :P Dull story, dull music. Not even any special appearance :D How on earth do u think will u sell this flick. Cheers to Karan Johar, he is simply brilliant. He managed not only to sell the movie without even a single hot scene or chic in the entire flick, but he even managed to make huge bucks out of it. He very well knows how to make business.

Rann

More of a reality flick, just as the promos suggest. More on the lines of Madhur Bhandarkar. :) But yes, the subject of the movie is the need of the hour. The target this time is the media. :) A good flick, not for entertainment really, more of a serious stuff. But quite gripping. The best part of the movie is, the more you try to predict it, the more it tends to differ. After a long time, came somethin better from Ramu. :)

Plot:

This is a story of an honest TV Reporter, Vijay Mallik(Amitabh Bachchan). He is the god of the media industry. He is created his own niche, and built a company of his own which sells news. His channel covers only which is true and a relevant news, absolutely no bakwaas, nothin will this channel show just to earn more TRP in order to earn big bucks for themselves. The result being, other channels are more popular than him, and the owners more richer than him. The character of his son is played by Sudeep (Jai). He represents today's youth, who is more ambitious, and is more interested in earning money. He often disagrees with his father's flow of work and questions them to change them.

Now introducing Purab(Ritesh Deshmukh). He is a wannabe reporter. And his guru is none other than Vijay. He someday wishes to work with him and fortunately gets a job with him as well. His girl fren is played by Gul Panag. Enough of heroes, now comes the villain. :D (Mohan Pandey)Paresh Rawal is a politician from the opposition party, and aims to rule the country one day. He conspired with Jai's Brother in law, (Rajat Kapoor) ,and industrialist for a big game.Rajat's personal interest being, to be the top industrialist of the country. Vijay has some more competitors, such as Amrish Kakkar(Monish Behl), who once used to be an employee of Vijay, but now owns his own channel.

Here from the real story begins. The conspirators targets Jai, who is the weak thread of all. He is short tempered and hence easy to manipulate. They show him a way to earn more money and beat the competitors in the market. He easily falls for it, and make use of his own father in the plot. Entire nation considers Vijay as an honest reporter, none can questions the news comin from him. His son makes use of the father to telecast a false news. To which the nation reacts, and the govt falls, resultin in new campaigns, and extreme benefit for Mohan Panndey. Amidst all these, Jai is screwed up with a murder case.

Purab smells somethin fishy, and starts investigating himself without anybody else's notice. And he finds out the entire plot behind. He trusts none else but the COO of the company played by Suchitra. Suchitra turns out to be disloayal to her own company. She sells off the news to Kakkar for her own benefit. When Purab gets to know the depth of all the issues, he stops trustin everyone. Meawhile, Jai is reignin on his success, he plans to marry his long time gal fren played by Neetu Chandra.

In the end, Purab starts hating Vijay itself, since he was in a notion, that VIjay started it all. Having no other tunnel, he approaches Vijay directly, and tells him everythin with the proofs he has collected so far. Vijay now is in extreme state of shock. He just cudnt believe his own son has used him. He goes and confesses all this in front of the media live. The entire new govt is once again shaken with MOhan Pandey being the ruler this time. Failing to cope with the entire stress, Jai suicides. Vijay not able to gain the confidence back again, and also not having the courage to face the world anymore, hands over the charge of the company to Purab, someone who he can trust.

There is practically no songs in the movie, only background scores, which at times get irritating. The flick is very much watchable and leaves u with a good impact.Amitabh as usual is outstanding :)

Ishqiya

A good time pass and entertaining flick. Dont expect too much out of it. Just a regular masala film. Watch it for the dialogues and the delivery of the same. The movie is only for the characters and less for the story.

Plot:

This a story of a village in Uttar Pradesh and a love triangle between the 3 important characters of the movie viz Babban(Arshad Warsi), KhaluJaan(Naseerddin Shah) and Krishna(Vidya Balan). Khalujaan and Babban are 2 thieves who have managed to flee some cash under the nose of their own boss. They are now on a run to escape from their boss. They try all possible place for a shelter and finally Krishna comes to aid. Krishna is a widow of a
former criminal Verma. In the run, Khalunjaan starts falling for Krishna on account of a common interest "Music". Babban on the other hand is a womaniser. While on the other hand, Krishna starts plotting a big game, of abducting a low profile rich businessman with the interest of encashing a bit and lured Khalujaan and Babban in the plot in the name of saving them from the don who is threatening them for money. What hidden plan Krishna has behind the abduction is not known till the end.

Both the thieves starts implementing the drama now.Meanwhile Babban falls in love with Krishna. And there is a proper love triangle now, where both Khalujaan and Babban try to beat each other to earn some quality time with the lady. The rest half of the movie is all light headed entertainment. Watch, laugh and forget.

The twist unveils when Krishna's intentions are cleared behind everything. And that follows a series of love, hatred, betrayal, fights..finally ending on a happy note.

Music is good to the ears. You can expect to have a good weekend watch on the flick.

Sherlock Homles

Absolutely loved it :) Didnt expect much though, since i didnt find the trailors to be as attractive. Nevertheless, must say, RObert Downey Jr. as Sherlock Holmes completely rocks. I have always loved him since Iron Man. Now love him even more :D

Plot:

The devil in the movie is Lord Blackwood, who is heavily into some kinda black magic and is incessantly into human sacrifice. Sherlock Holmes is called upon to stop the murders. The duo,Sherlock with Dr Watson(Jude Law) manages to put Lord Blackwood behind bars. He is goin to be hanged to deadth, before which he makes his last wish, and that is to see Sherlock for the last time. Meanwhile there is someone else who wants to trap Sherlock and sends a lady as a messenger for a contract.A new job to find out a man missing. Sherlock smells something fishy in it, and follows her to find out more.

Meanwhile, Blackwood before prosecution, warns Sherlock that there are 3 more deadth awaiting which will change the nature of the world. A few days after Blackwood's funeral, there is a news around, that Blackwood rose from his grave. Police investigate along with Sherlock to dig out from the grave, only to raise more eyebrows. Dr. Watson meanwhile plans gettin married while the case and frenship keeps him engaged.

This follows a series of chase to solve the mystery and the many difficulties they face on the way to find the truth behind all the unsolved happenings. In one of the occassions, Sherlock is taken to the father of Blackwood, where he gets some more information, and decides to take the case on his own stride. Soon after, Blackwood murders his own father and summons the court to bring forward his plans to rule over the world with his deadly magic, and persuades the people to follow his ways and get ready to witness a complete change in the ways of nature, where the control will be in his hands.

The mystery was kept so well covered, that even Sherlock cudnt decipher it untill he himself followed the rules of black magic to an extent, where he got his more detailed clues.Thenafter continues a few further chase and escape sequences ultimately solving all the mysteries with science.

I would not like to unfold all the mysteries in my blog. It definately deserves a watch and moreover smart, witty and intelligent Sherlock speaking out to you himself is any given day more fun :)

Final Verdict:

The retro look of the movie, where u can see the London Bridge in making :) Also the more than a narrator role of Dr. Watson for Sherlock Holmes, feels amazing. Completely smitten over my Robert Downey Jr. :) A must watch for the lovers of detective stories.

Pyaar Impossible

You can ignore this flick without any doubt. Waste of time, money and effort.

Plot:
Its a story of a so called geek, for whom his second love is machine and 1st love being a girl. He he, yeah, a GEEK :D He falls in love with hotty Priyanka Chopra(Alisha Merchant) in college. Of course one thing is the director managed to promote the movie only with this angle before release. The movie is completely different from what you would expect as a story. Uday Chopra(Abhay Sharma) is always ignored, his presence is never felt by any of the happening crowd of the college. Alisha is expelled from college and the love story ends even before brewing up itself. 7 Years later, Abhay Sharma is living with this dad in Mumbai, where he is jobless, and tryin to sell his software, OS which he named as Unity and has invested 7 yrs of his labour in it. He comes across a fraud businessman, Dino Morea, who steals his software from him. Abhay unaware of this fact, tries selling his software
elsewhere, where from he gets to know that the same OS is already going to be launched in the market by a Singaporean company 'Pinnacle Software'. Now he travels to Singapore, looking out for Dino who steals it from him. Alas, he doesnt succeed but comes across the love of his life Alisha, once again. Now Alisha is working as a PR(Public relationship) manager for Pinnacle SOftware. Abhay sees another ray of hope, and tries talkin to Alisha in his first visit to her home. Here is a twist, where u see Alisha being a divorced, single mother and working. Abhay, in a confusion ends up being a nanny to her daughter.

The child actress is as annoyin as her mother in the movie. Yes, Priyanka as well as the child actor really over acted in this movie. Now the daugher is really a monster, but our abhay nanny manages to pull through. Becomes a fren of the daughter. Meanwhile Dino has already sold off Unity renaming it as 'Unified' to Pinnacle. Dino is also flirtin with Alisha and wants to date her.Alisha calls a few people to dinner at her place, and thats where Abhay gets to catch Dino. He avoids confrontin him in front of Alisha, and meets him in person later. Abhay challenges Dino to return back his software in vain. Finally,Abhay decides to balance his nanny-hood with his passion for his OS. He takes up a job in Pinnacle in a lower level being a computer mechanic. He gets an access to the server machine where this OS is installed. Now the OS is goin to be annouced to the world LIVE. This is where Abhay
has to prove himself.

On the other hand, Alisha discovers a fren in her daughters Nanny and starts spendin a lot of time with him. While Dino is tryin all his luck on the lady. One day Dino(Varun) and Abhay meet face to face with each other at Alisha's place. Varun exposes Abhay, in a negative way. Alisha loses all faith in Abhay and they part once again, only to realise later that the one guy who loved her since 7 years from college was him, and that she was a fool and a loser to let him go. In the end, she succeeds to get him back, and takes him to the launch of the software. Now he played the oldest trick, to change the password of the system, which Varun fails to crack in front of the media durin the launch. Here Alisha takes the stance and introduces Abhay, the orignial programmer of the software and he steals the rest of the show. And finally the happy reunion of a full fledged family, father, mother and daughter on the stage LIVE....he he he :D

Final Verdict:

The direction is poor. Even when the movie has so many different instances, it is not at all engrossing. You feel lousy by the interval itself. Over acting from Priyanka and the child artist makes it even more unbearable. Uday was so so. Nothing new to watch. The only thing i liked bout is the placings of the songs. The songs were fresh soundin and not at all misplaced. After a long time saw a movie where the songs were not forced in just for the
heck of it. Other than that theres nothin to hold on to.

3 Idiots

Simply an over-rated movie. Too much of hype, just not worth it. No denial to the fact, that its entertaining, but we have seen much more better from Raju Hirani as well as Aamir Khan. Festive season could be a favour Or else just a time pass flick.

Highlights:

To begin with, you will be a lot reminded of apna Munnabhai in character Rancho(Aamir). The way he does help people in his own different ways. The director should grow out of Munnabhai now. Its only Sanjay Dutt who can suit this social worker role the best. Nobody can replace Sanjay Dutt, not even Aamir. He should understad that. As the movie begins, especially audiences who have graduated from Engg Colleges, could identify a lot. And hence, u expect a lot more of similar nostalgic scenes depicting the life of budding Engineers. But as the moves advances, what u can only see is Aamir Khan, as if the movie is made for him. Big Actors like Madhavan, Kareena and even Sharman cudnt do much, because Aamir dominated so much. Thats something i totally hated.

I was a bit late in checking out this flick this time :D So had quite lot of recommendations from friends to go and watch this flick for its balanced story. Good humour and emotions in the right places. I am sorry to say this, but i didnt really find this movie balanced at all. The humour which were created with those silly jokes which you would already have heard a lot of times over forwards and smses, can make u only smile at the max. you cant laugh at
the same jokes over and over again. And emotions were class apart. I have never seen any actor even in Karan Johar's movie cry as much as in this flick. Every alternate scene and the guys have the eyes readily filled with tears. Even the lightest of scenes are forcefully depicted as emotional.

They added as much as masala possible in the flick. So much of masala, that it no way makes any mark as a good movie. Engg College has been made a joke of. Where every other month u see guys attempting suicide. ok, i accept it happens, but not every other month. And the heights, they also show a lady delivering baby in the principal's office. And the delivery is done by our genius doc cum engg- Aamir Khan. If all these are not enough, guys please watch the scene post delivery, the significance of the famous phrase"All izz well". You just cant help but to bang your head over the sutpidity of the scene.

Okay, now comin to music, songs looked a bit forced with no meaningful context really. But isnt tat bad to the ears. I loved the get up of Madhavan as a student, but he cudnt stand much in front of our dominating charm Aamir, Sharman was almost neglected if he wudnt have committed suicide. I loved kareena as well, but alas she was wasted in the movie. Why does any big actor sign a movie sharing screen space with Aamir, is beyond my understanding.

The most shockin part is the rating it has got. A whopping 5 stars!!! :O Was the credit bought and sold, no idea. But it certainly doesnt deserve so much of accolades. This would be my first ever review, where i hardly write anythin good about a flick. Its mostly because, you would have already read all very good about this flick, and hardly any wrong except for the controvery relating to the stolen credit of the original writer of the book "Five Points Someone"- Chetan Bhagat.

I would just want you to find out for yourself, whether the movie really touches your heart as any series of Munnabhai or even Taare Zameen Par. Be it entertainment or emotions, it failed to touch my heart at least. Many of you might not agree with this particular review of mine. But wat the hell, am earning no good with my reviews. Its my opinion in the end.

My Rating: 3/5 (for the light entertaintment and feel good factor during festive season :) )
