Texas Chainsaw

Cast: Alexandra Daddario,Dan Yeager
Directors: John Luessenhop
Genre: Horror, Gory

Rather disappointing. We cant even call it average

Pluses:
  • Alexandra Daddario(lead female),Dan Yeager(Leatherface); the terms between these two characters turn out to be nice. Concluding end looks fine but thats about it
  • Both the actors did the job given to them, however no special contribution to any
  • The only good thing such movie do to you is that you dont feel sleepy at least :P
Minuses:
  • Cliche stuffs, you have seen over and over again. Nothing exciting, nothing chilly
  • All the other characters of the movie were wasteful. Trash!!
  • 3D is waste as well. You can instead enjoy the feel in my page instead of watching the entire movie :D

3G

Cast: Neil Nitin Mukesh, Sonal Chauhan,Geeta Basra,Asheesh Kapur
Directors: Sheershak Anand, Shantanu Ray Chhibber
Genre: Horror, Thriller

If you want to walk away with an enjoyable impression, then dont dare to sit past interval

Pluses:
  • Neil Nitin Mukesh, looked hotter than ever. I like the way he experiments with different genres, but i so wish he could get some good script. His movies have a certain trend...first half is always different, but you just cant stand the stories in the second. Call it bad choice of script or his fate, he is struggling hard to make a standing. Great potential, all my best wishes with him :D
  • Sonal Chauhan, again looked never so better. Kudos to her costume designer, she managed to carry it off. She looked hot. And guys, she has turned bold :P Lot of well executed hot scenes out there. She was never a bad actor otherwise but not any different from the regular ones
  • First half was pretty good, it manages to scare you with the spooky things, more or so, cos i wasnt expecting this one to be an actual horror movie. The make up was really good...not so unnatural but believable
  • The photography of the movies makes it a worth watch in big screens. Be it the exotic locations combining beautiful colors or be it the odd ugly faces on screen, entire VFX, you will enjoy them all

Minuses:
  • Geeta Basra and Asheesh Kapur had brief roles. Though Geeta was like omnipresent everywhere, but the later seen only by the end to reveal the secrets. Very average roles, nothing great
  • All this while you watch the first half, you keep wondering what can go wrong so bad post interval to have screwed the movie devastatingly...and there you go!! Felt like the two different directors divided the show pre and post interval, each one of them worked individually in slices. The story felt like goin no where, you find nothing new happening. Even if they try hard to make a story to explain the happenings, the script or the people are not convincing enough. The movie sucks in short

Final Verdict: If not for the bad explanation of things, the movie had the potential to fair well

The Incredible Burt Wonderstone

Cast: Steve Carell, Steve Buscemi,Jim Carrey,Olivia Wilde,James Gandolfini,Alan Arkin
Directors: Don Scardino
Genre: Magic, Comedy

Light hearted movie. Its one of those which if doesnt create great impression, but doesnt let you go empty handed either. Good time assured

Pluses:
  • Steve Carell, is the lead. The story is about him. And he is handsome and charming but an obssessed magician. Success gone to the head. Now you can very well predict the rest of the movie. May sound cliche, but for the character of Burt...who makes it pleasurable to watch. He pulls the role through charismatically. Besdies, quite a good looking actor with nice features. Wonder where was he lost so long :D
  • Steve Buscemi, is a good support to his nappy friend 'Burt'. A lot on the practical side on how things work in real life. He aint some friend who stands as a moral for friendship, but sensibly yes...he walks away when it was unbearable, tries something of his own, to no avail and gets back to the old association, so as to work something around for the good of the both. Fair!! Very much :)
  • OMG,Jim Carrey. This man is insane, how does he manage to look so young. And ohhh there, look at his body, wannabe!! :) Doesnt matter, he is hot, funny, gross and sexy. I loved him
  • Olivia Wilde, is the only supporting female character. Nothing extraordinary to her role but she does manage to look good through out :)
  • James Gandolfini, we have seen him in quite a few movies off late. He is bossy, just as he is supposed to be for the character. Brief role, played well
  • Alan Arkin, brief role again but a cute one. He is an adorable old magician :)

Minuses:

With all the good casting out there, i guess a little better script with some more humor would have worked wonders

Snitch

Cast: Dwayne Johnson(John Matthews), Susan Sarandon(US Attorney Joanne), Jon Bernthal(Daniel),Barry Pepper(Agent Cooper),Michael Kenneth Williams(Malik), Rafi Gavron(Jason)
Directors: Ric Roman Waugh
Genre: Crime based on true story

You wont mind it more or so if you watch it assuming similar something had actually happened

Pluses:
  • Dwayne Johnson, tries some serious acting and sans regular action. He fits into the context of the story but you keep wondering of his huge rock solid body, hardly put to any use. Nevertheless, i appreciate his move to non action hero role and able to float up on the surface
  • Jon Bernthal did a good job. One supporting character who gave himself totally into the role
  • Michael Kenneth Williams as the bad guy out there didnt have much to play as such. None of the bad guys here had much to give, somehow they were more or less always represented as a mob of drug racketeers. Although, fits well in real life scenario, they are no larger than god celebrity kinda characters anyway
  • Script doesnt have to be worked upon much since its inspired by a true story. Executed fine

Minuses:
  • Audience who are going to watch 'Rock' in it, will have to face disappointment. Absolutely no action from him guys, except for a few run and chase sequences
  • The pace of the movie is slow. Never try watching it late night post dinners :D Rock minus action, will surely put you to sleep
  • Susan Sarandon and Barry Pepper were the roles which are always little on the greyish side. They didnt look so convincing to me. You dont feel their characters anytime
  • Rafi Gavron, albiet an important character doesnt have much to game. Rather a central pivot, around whom everything else keeps revolving

Mere Dad Ki Maruti

Cast: Saqib Saleem, Ram Kapoor, Prabal Panjabi, Rhea Chakraborty, Ravi Kisan
Directors: Ashima Chibber
Genre: Comedy

Here you go, yet another fun flick. Absolute entertainer, go and have a bite of some light hearted comedy

Pluses:
  • The storyline isnt anything new we havent heard of or seen before. But i have always stressed upon the execution. And here Ashima Chibber presents you with a regaling, also a logical comedy :) You dont get to see many mindful comedies after all these days :P From the beginning till the very end, every chore explained and you never feel bored. You will have a heart felt laughter
  • Saqib Saleem, is not a hero material. But this movie certainly worked for him, he wasnt portrayed as a dude something anyway. For a lot of new comers, his acting is not so unnatural. You dont feel he is overdoing instances, he is just about fine at some areas and some others pretty good. May be his look was such in the movie, which suits an irresponsible simpleton...and that makes him very watchcable. Cant comment much on his future however :D
  • Ram Kapoor, is another actor who has come a long way from small screens to the big screens. Smaller screens, no less powerful building a career, he shines equally good on bigger screens. You just love everything about him...be it his size or his accent. And after all, not that mean a dad as seen in 'Student of the year'. He is cute and adorable in this one :)
  • Prabal Panjabi is a good support. Hope 'Rangrezz' has something better to offer to us, since this guy definitely stands up as a true friend through thicks n thins
  • Ravi Kisan had a brief role. Played fine

Minuses:
  • Rhea Chakraborty, girllll...where was she picked from!! I dont find her hot at all. Zero on acting skills, though gets better by the end. Thankfully her role was not so skimpy but yet her role was not well written. Someone, who begins with so much class and show off, later turns out to be a very understanding and supportive die hard friend and girl friend out of nothing and all that for a chap who is practically inutile. Absolutely no build up of chemistry between the love struck duo
  • This flick falls short of only one song to a family movie. A dance number from the guy's sister was just not required. Its vulgar and its ugly. I understand the intent of displaying this could be just exposing a bit of how punjabi culture is, but this was way to exagerrated and spoils the mood for sometime until the movie resumes from the shock. Wonder how did the bombastic performance end up in a fizzzz without any reaction from either parties :D

Jolly LLB

Cast: Arshad Warsi, Boman Irani, Saurabh Shukla, Amrita Rao
Directors: Subhash Kapoor
Genre: Sarcasm, Drama

Feels like long time, in a month, having seen a good movie from Bollywood. Worth watching out :)

Pluses:
  • Beautifully written script, opens so many new aspects of our juidicial system, more than many of us know. The blend of sarcasm with harsh reality is a difficult job to get done. Executed with great finesse. The entire credit goes to the script writer and the Director Subhash Kapoor
  • Arshad Warsi and Boman Irani duo were no less to each other. Standing shoulder to shoulder, delivered good performances. On one hand where Boman Irani has a class of his own when it comes to acting, on the other you can very much sense the emergent solo actor from the league of all mid range actors, Arshad Warsi. Arshad Warsi has certainly come a long way, glad to see him doing independent roles.Boman Irani at the same time is a gem of an actor, you cant help loving him
  • Saurabh Shukla, was amazingly adorable. Nothing else can describe him better. One significant character of the movie and absolutely charming. His dialogues were hilarious

Minuses:
  • Amrita Rao was more of a placeholder, no significant role. Not really required either
  • Music rather unwelcomed, song sequences pushed in
  • There were prominently visible detailing given to a few aspects, which you usually dont see in movies having run from ages. However, when the director wants you to take note of finer detailing, thats were he commits some silly mistakes here and there.
  • The end was too much hunky-dory,realities are far from what they showed at the receiving end. They completely missed out one important aspect of the judge who started the case asking for a favor to Boman Irani. With a personal favor lurking there, how suddenly does he change into a honest somebody, was never paid attention to. Besides, the level of corruption is too deep, not so easy

21 and over

Cast: Miles Teller, Justin Chon, Jonathan Keltz,Sarah Wright
Directors: Jon Lucas, Scott Moore
Genre: Adult Comedy

If 'Hangover' is what you are expecting, you wont be disappointed

Pluses:
  • Looks like there were quite high expectations out of it which pulled it down by the reviewers. But if you want to enjoy some more bursts like that of 'Hangover', you surely shall have it. Contains nothing but all the whacky drunken moments, errand run arounds. No brainers but entertainer :)
  • Miles Teller and Jonathan Keltzwere reminds you of the teenage days, poles apart in characteristics but yet closest of friends, hate each other but cant live without either. If not for their roles, the movie would not be possible
  • Justin Chon as 'Jeff Chang', LOL....this guy needs a standalone recognition amongst the three musketeers. Has awesome American accent and the center player in the movie. Though half the time unconscious but he is the one who makes you laugh everytime. Good job done :)

Minuses:
  • Agreed, this is not as par the standards of 'Hangover', but watchable
  • The final scenes reminds you of multiple Bollywood flicks, mostly '3 Idiots'...soooo Indian :D I would add that as minus cos it doesnt suit the intent of the movie nor did that look any fresh
  • Sarah Wright was the only female character in prominence, however she just wasnt required and her screen presence was quite irksome. Every time i wanted to shoo her away, she used to be back some where or the other
  • I am sure some extra mileage to its script would have worked better to its fate in the box office. The characters were no fault, nor was the direction, all it lacked was some additional fun and a little logically done
