Haider

Cast: Shahid Kapoor, Tabu,Irrfan Khan,Kay Kay Menon,Shraddha Kapoor,Narendra Jha
Director: Vishal Bhardwaj
Genre: Crime, Drama, Romance, Thriller

Good subject, darkened beyond need!
If you have been too happy off late, go for it, you will have some change :)

You may look forward to:

  • Shahid Kapoor gets a performance oriented movie to act in! Sober to animal to crazy, you see him in different flavors! He is worth the appreciation!
  • Tabu had very gray shade to her role, a victim some time or a player, gets difficult figuring out till the end. She manages to keep a dark secret around her throughout
  • The chemistry between Shahid and Tabu, is questionable and is as well complicated. Nevertheless, never an easy thing to play, is a plus for the movie
  • Irrfan Khan, again has a grayish shade, he helps and as well takes away, he plays with various characters to his benefit
  • Kay Kay Menon, a labelled negative role, but has a softer side for the woman he loves, which eventually proves fatal to him! So whats more intelligent, politics or love!
  • Narendra Jha, had a short quiet role, a good support
  • Beautiful Kashmir, ever beautiful Jhelum, snow and streams! Its wonderful to watch it on big screens!
  • Immediate 45 minutes of the movie past interval picks up really well, and you get to see Shahid acting awesome! Be it how he acts or he dances, he definitely catches your attention!

What you can sleep over:

Shraddha Kapoor, again a role to just fill it up. A dud head beauty, who more than impressing, does irritate. Unnecessary romance and uncalled for drama which finally ends with her!

The dampeners you should be aware of:

  • The movie is unnecessarily too dark and too heavy and too slow! We understand Kashmir in its worse times, we understand even the psyche of people which were threatened, but, i refuse to accept that all the major characters in the movie who were in focus were all a lil loosened nuts, driven by insanity of their own kinds! The way it hints, its almost like picking up the most depressed family in Kashmir, put it into the characters of Hamlet, and produce it to film a movie
  • All the many deaths in a row reminded me of the movie 'Rajneeti', exaggerated bull shit, nothing close to reality but very much otherwise fictional! How 'Hamlet' happens to describe the death of the entire royal family is tragic, but this one feels far less from tragic. It feels more suicidal. Fault at the script execution and the Director at that
  • So what does Haider mean?? Haider= Survivor :) One person driven by crazy fit of emotions and reactions, around whom every body just dies :)
  • Music, oh my lord! So so so irritating, draggy, lengthening, save me the horror!
  • You can doze off multiple times during the movie, its that slow and draggy at times

My Rating: 2.5/5
