Lone Survivor

Cast: Mark Wahlberg(Marcus Luttrell), Taylor Kitsch(Lieutenant Michael P), Emile Hirsch(Danny Dietz),Ben Foster(Matthew Axelson), Eric Bana(Lieutenant Commander Erik S. Kristensen)
Director:Peter Berg
Genre: Biography,War

This one is worth all the awards it has won and been nominated for. If you can stand slight gory content, this movie is a must watch

PS: Salute to the army who genuinely fights for the right cause and deep condolences to those who lost their lives

You may look forward to:
  • Amazing direction. We may have seen many war movies than we can remember. It takes a lot to distinguish itself from the others. Peter Berg gladly meets the expectations. Every scene so meticulously delivered. With every blast and men falling, you can feel the spiraling body and bones cracking. Be it the many oozes of blood or even mucous, yes, it is slightly gory, but that much detailing makes it worth a watch
  • You are not just watching the regular gun fires and combats between man and army, but also the many difficulties an army as trained as SEAL needs to face on the cost of their lives. This movie does touch your conscience
  • Every actor, each on of them very well acted. Be it the co ordination or be it idiocy that led to further melancholy, all of them show up, every person, no matter what is a human in the end!
  • Mark Wahlberg, playing the role of 'Marcus Luttrell', of course had an extended length of movie to himself, with more opportunity to perform. And he doesnt let the path be lost after the war, he very well carries movie forward till the end

The dampeners you should be aware of:

Nothing notably silly or overdone anywhere

My rating: 4/5

It deserves to be seen more so as a tribute to these real-life, fallen soldiers, rather than total and pure propaganda. Good review Arpita.
