The Monuments Men

Cast: George Clooney, Matt Damon, Cate Blanchett,Bill Murray(Sgt. Richard Campbell),Hugh Bonneville(Donald Jeffries),Bob Balaban(Pvt. Preston Savitz),John Goodman(Sgt. Walter Garfield),Jean Dujardin(Lt. Jean Claude Clermont)
Director:George Clooney
Genre: History, War, Drama

Its a good but a slow watch! And mind you, its no Sherlock Holmes, may sound less intriguing!

PS: Highly recommended to sit with a bucket of popcorn, you will need it :)

You may look forward to:

  • The man,George Clooney :) Director as well as the senior actor :) Not that he hasnt done movies better than this, but this man cant go wrong! Love him(With or without moustaches-as someone asked me) :P
  • Matt Damon, again the roles were divided, so is attention and screen presence. He had a slight touch of the Lead hero of the movie, courtesy to the involvement of a woman in his part of the story :)
  • Cate Blanchett, ohhhh does she or doesnt she look French! :) Lovely dame :) Only lady and absolute limelight, no divided attention :)
  • Rest of the star cast along with the men mentioned above forms 'The monuments men', everybody as i said, have a bit of role respectively, knitted well!!
  • Second half of the movie is what reaps it. Most of the action and content is in the second half

What you can sleep over:

Ohh well!! The pace of the movie, you may tend to lose patience, but then hold on, since there is more to come past interval

The dampeners you should be aware of:
  • The story i believe could have been much better presented. Its not intriguing enough. A little bit of thriller in there or mystery or puzzle solving touch, would have done wonders. Its a very subtle movie. Not to the liking of all kinds of audience
  • Pretty slow, i didnt enjoy the 1st half of the movie at all
  • All the actors had divided limelight to share, it doesnt build up any personal touch with any one of them, Matt Damon for instance gets completed overshadowed, so does George Clooney himself

My rating: 2.5/5
