Saving Mr. Banks

Cast: Emma Thompson, Tom Hanks,Colin Farrell,Annie Rose Buckley(Ginty),Ruth Wilson(Pamela's Mother),Paul Giamatti(Ralph-Pamela's chauffeur)
Director:John Lee Hancock
Genre: Biography, History, Drama

One out of the league but a very beautiful movie. If you havent given a thought about watching this one, i strongly recommend that you should! This is what i call as a quality movie

You may look forward to:
  • Bowled over by Emma Thompson. She easily stands as appreciable a role as Caprio was appreciated for 'Wolf of Wall Street'. She portrays a pretty complicated caricature there with utter finesse and careful enactment of multiple expressions.Need i say more :)
  • Tom Hanks, stands truly to the aura of the role he was enacting. You cant get that face off your mind which stands for Mr. Walt Disney
  • The part of the story which was picked and then matched up to cover one aspect of the biography of "Mrs. Travers"( as she prefers to be called :) ) and also a part of the history which is the making of the film "Mary Poppins". Both the aspects made beautifully, inter woven one into another, running in parallel and an absolute delight to watch
  • Colin Farrell is indeed a gray figure. Irresponsible but madly in love with his daughters. A loving father undoubtedly to punch a hole forever in the mind of a child, difficult to bear
  • Annie Rose Buckley is a beautiful child and portrays the role of young 'Pamela' very graciously. She does deserve a special mention
  • John Lee Hancock makes very different kind of movies, doesnt come with a guarantee of a sure shot block buster. But this one is gonna remain in you head for long to come :)
  • There was this interesting supporting role of Paul Giamatti which again remains etched on your mind
  • Ruth Wilson, didnt have much to do, but she was there with her presence felt

What you can sleep over:

You gotto have some patience and wait for John Lee Hancock to unravel the character of a complicated old woman bit by bit. The more you know about her, the more you like her. But the key to it is patience :)

The dampeners you should be aware of:

Absolutely nothing

My rating: 4/5
